I recently found an exciting new product from Crayola at Toys R Us. The product is called Recoloritz.
Basically what Crayola Recoloritz is, is black coloring pages with a picture drawn in white lines. It comes with special coloring crayons that seem more similar to pastels. Your child can color the picture and then with the simple wipe of the sponge that comes with it and a little water, the page is clean to be colored again.
I loved the idea and so I bought the Disney Princess Recoloritz for my 3 year old. She loved it. In fact, she loved it so much that she used up the pastel coloring pens quite quickly. We still have the pages for her to color, but I cannot find the special coloring crayons/pastels to buy anywhere.
Another thing that I noticed right away is that it sure is a messy craft. The special coloring crayons that the Recoloritz comes with are very soft and my little one can smudge them quite easily. The good thing is that it truly is wipe and clean on all the surfaces that she got the color onto so far.
Would I recommend the product? Well, I love Crayola products and I love the concept of being the pages being there to color over and over again. So I would recommend the product as long as you know ahead of time that it is going to be a messy venture and that your little one might go through the special coloring crayons quite quickly.
I am sure that Crayola will soon come out with a package of the Recoloritz crayons to purchase. I sent an email to Crayola asking if they will be available soon and have not received an answer to my question as of yet.
In this video below is an example of the other type of Crayola Recoloritz. Same concept, but the pages are white instead of black and they have markers instead of the pastel type crayons ours came with. Overall though, same concept of color and recolor.
UPDATE:…………………………….
I read the fine print on the package of Recoloritz and it says that you can use any washable Crayola marker, crayon etc….
