MomMomOnTheGo recently review the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 which seems to be one of the most popular Instax cameras out there these days.
We love our Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 so we were pretty excited to check out the Fujifilm Instax Mini 70 and compare the two Instax cameras.
First thing to note is the Fujifilm Instax Mini 70 comes in three colors: white, yellow, and blue. We have the blue one and it is gorgeous. I really like the three color options and it could only be improved by offering a metallic pink or purple one as well.
There are two differences between our Instax Mini 8 and our Instax Mini 70 that we noticed right away. First of all, the Instax Mini 70 is a bit smaller. So if you have smaller hands, or are looking for a smaller Instax to bring around, then you will probably like the size of the Instax Mini 70.
The other difference that we notice right off is the with the Instax Mini 70, you can take selfies. There is a little mirror on the front of the camera by the lens and what you see in that mirror is what you get in the picture you take. Easy peasy to use for sure and what a nice feature especially for all the selfie lovers out there.
My Little One who is 8 years old and our middle one who is 13 are in love with selfies, so you can imagine how excited they are about being able to take Instax selfies.
The instant picture is not a novelty for us older crown. My parents still have their original instant camera from when I was a kid. That “old” technology has been reborn with the younger generations loving the idea of having a physical photo right away to display in their rooms, memory books, lockers, you name it and that is where they love to display them.
These days, we have probably a ton more photos than in the past, but they are all digital and stored in clouds, thumb drives, or computer drives where not only could we lose them, but we only see them when we talk a walk down our digital memory lane. I do miss the old photos that you display and have photo albums to flip through. There is something wonderful about an instant, physical picture to hold and look at.
There is more than just great color options and a selfie mode to the Fujifilm Instax Mini 70 though….
Selfie mode for easy, excellent self portraits
The instax® mini 70 features a new ‘Selfie’ mode for taking perfect selfies. Just press the selfie button when shooting and the camera will automatically adjust the focal length and brightness to the ideal level for selfies.
Selfie Mirror
The selfie mirror beside the lens lets you check the framing to achieve the best angle. If you are shooting a group selfie, flip the camera and shoot horizontally.
Automatic Exposure Control gets the lighting just right
The instax® mini 70 features an Automatic Exposure Control, which captures both the subject and the background in beautiful clarity. Press the shutter button and the camera will automatically detect the amount of surrounding brightness and adjust the shutter speed and flash. Your photos will have a natural brightness even when you’re shooting indoors at a party or wedding.
Self Timer puts you in the pictureWith the instax® mini 70’s ‘Self-timer’ mode, you can take group shots where you’re the center of attention. Set it up for multiple shots, and the camera will automatically take a second image once the first one has finished. Great for copies, photo booths and fun photos.
Hi-key mode for bright subjects
Brighten up your subject and capture beautiful skin tones with the hi-key mode.
Macro mode
When you’re coming in for a close-up, use the macro mode to get clear sharp photos at a minimum distance of 30cm to 60cm (1 to 2 feet) from your subject. Great for portraits, pets and flowers.
Landscape mode
Step back and get the big picture with the ‘Landscape’ mode. Sometimes you need a wider view and this mode will keep the lighting and exposure just right for your scenery pictures when you are more than 3m (10 feet) from the subject.
No more over-exposed faces! With the instax® mini 70’s new “Fill-in Flash” feature, you can take detailed photos of your friends against a bright background without “blowing out” their faces. Great for beach portraits or night shots with lights in the background.
Tripod mount – keeping it steadyWhen you’re using the self timer or waiting for the perfect frame of a moving subject, set up the instax® mini 70 on a tripod using the tripod mount and eliminate camera “shake”.
I cannot even think of anything else I would ask of an Instax camera.
Now I have seen the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 in a ton of stores such as Best Buy and London Drugs to just name a couple. But if you are hunting for the Fujifilm Instax Mini 70, I would suggest checking out Best Buy, The Source, Chapters, or online at Amazon.
So which camera between the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 and mini 70 would I buy? Ahhhhhhhh! That is hard to answer because I love them both.
The easiest way to look at which Instax camera to buy is to look at the different features.
I can say that if you are wanting a good sized Instax camera that does selfies, then you have to check out the Fujifilm Instax Mini 70. It is an awesome camera that takes amazing pictures. Kids and adults alike seem to love the Instax trend and I totally understand why.
I know from my kids that tweens and teens really are into and love the Fujifilm Instax line of cameras.
