My Little One, who is 8 years old, has been making me aware of the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 for quite some time now. Every time we see one, she is pointing it out to me….See mom, it pops the picture right out so you have a real photo right away.
For my Little One who is growing up in the digital era, to instantly have a photo that she can touch, hold, and actually display is a unique idea to her.
So with all the lead up to how much she wanted a Fujifil Instax Mini 8, you can imagine the squeals of excitement when she came home after school one day and I handed her a pink one to test out.
First of all, let me point out that the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 comes in 7 different colors. I chose pink because that is my Little One’s favorite color and the camera that she has been pointing out to me for so long. There is an awesome variety of colors to choose from though and undoubtedly one to suit all tastes and styles.

The Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 is very easy to use, especially when I put my glasses on when reading the instructions LOL. That is another story though….
The instructions are straightforward with pictures to help you. The package comes with batteries even and a package of film to get you snapping photos right away.
The Instax Mini 8 turns on with a simple push of the button by the lens and turns off by pushing the lens gently back in to close it. There is one button for taking the photo that is conveniently and easy to push with one finger no matter whether your hands are adult or child size.
There are settings on the camera for if you are in the house, outside in the sun, outside and very sunny, cloudy, and also a High-Key Photo setting to allow for softer looking photos. I found the High-Key Photo setting takes very crisp and defined photos. The three photos below show the difference with the middle photo having used the High -Key Photo setting.
Of course my Little One monopolizes our Fujifilm Instax Mini 8, with her favorite thing to do being, following the 4 cats around the house and taking photos of them. 🙂
The glare on the photos above are from me taking a photo of the photos with my cell so I could show the photos to you. The one of the cat was taken by my Little One and she did an awesome job. We have a trillion or so of the cats, but I had to share this one that I love.
With the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8, you can do some pretty amazing DIY (Do it Yourself) projects. How about a scrapbooking page, glue a photo on paper to make a birthday or Christmas card, use a photo as a gift card for a present, ….. the list really is only limited by your imagination. To help get inspired, check out the Fujifilm DIY project page.
The photos are an awesome sign and you can really get quite a few on a standard sized page if you wish to scrapbook up a few instant memories. Below are a number of our photos of my Little One on a standard 8 x 11 inch piece of paper.
The Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 photos are basically the size of a credit card. They develop fast and are crisp, clear, and vibrant in color. The film comes in boxes of 10 photos per back and are so simple to load into the camera.
What I have discovered and love, is that they also sell patterned and rainbow color film. I located the decorated film on Amazon, and I love this idea so much. Don’t tell my Little One, but I would be betting she will get some rainbow Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 film packages for Christmas!
I could really go on forever about the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8. We love it and I highly recommend that you check it out. My kids think it is amazing. For us older generation, it is a flash from the past, of something my parents used to have. Even back then, I remember loving the popping out of the photo and excitement of instant picture at my fingertips.
