Shakeology Review & Giveaway

I have always been a fan of meal replacement drinks and shakes. I am not really sure why, but I think it is because I like the on the go feature, the vitamins they have in them and because when I get up so early with the kids and for work, I just do not feel like making and eating breakfast.

There is no doubt that there are good meal replacement shakes out there and really bad ones. In my opinion a lot of what determines if a replacement shake is good or bad is determined by your preference in taste. Let’s face it, there can be an awesome quality product out there, but if you do not like the taste then you will not want to use it. It is no fun to be pinching your nose while you are trying to consume something or chasing it down with another drink to get rid of the taste.

I recently got to try a two week supply of Shakeology. I am telling you that the taste of this product is awesome as far as I am concerned. My favorite was the chocolate and I actually find it somewhat addicting. I found myself looking forward to when I could have my next chocolate shake. It taste like really creamy chocolate ice cream and I LOVE it.

There are three base flavors of the Shakeology mixes, Chocolate, Greenberry and Tropical Strawberry. As I said, my favorite flavor was Chocolate. The Greenberry grew on me and I quickly found myself loving it as a second choice to the Chocolate. My least favorite was the Tropical Strawberry. I love strawberries but I actually found the Tropical Strawberry to have a powdery feeling to it which the other two flavors did not have.

There are so many recipes that you can do with the three flavors, but you can do a quick simple on the go shake as well. If I had time I liked to mix the shake in the blender with milk and ice. It was like having a treat for breakfast. When I was on the go I just popped the shake into a mixing cup with milk and with a quick shake it was ready for me to drink. I always found myself trying to get those last little drops out of my shaker because of how much I loved the taste.

    Strength Train
Do not be intimited by strength training! Many ladies are worried that lifting weights will cause them to get bulky. Typically you need to eat a very high protein diet and lift extremely heavy weights and even doing this will not give women those huge men body builder muscles. Most women don’t have the hormones to get those kind of muscles. Adding some weights will give you nice shape and definition!

AKA don’t be afraid of weight training. Unless you’re under a specific diet and training regiment, you won’t be growing bulky muscles anytime soon!

    MYTH: Target Weightloss
There is no such thing as ‘Target Weightloss’. So many people are under the impression that you can do ab exercised to get rid of tummy flab. Sorry, but this is just not true. Training one part of the body can help to strengthen and change the shape of the muscle, but doesn’t soley burn the fat away from that area. Unfortunately, you cannot choose where fat comes off the body. Fat loss is a combination of diet, exercise, and genetics. In my opinion, diet contributes about 80%, but exercise also plays a big role! You will never see those beautiful abs if there is a layer of fat over them from not eating clean foods!

  27. Cardio AFTER Strength Training
If you are strength training and doing cardio on the same day, do your cardio AFTER your weights. You can use all your energy (glycogen) while lifting, then after your glycogen is depleted, your body will resort to using your stored fat for energy!

  28. I’d like to try Fall Eggnog

  29. I take some “me” time each week

  30. One of Coach Tally’s tips is to “Shock your Muscles” – In order to tone up your muscles you need to shock the muscle with a weight it is not used to lifting. Ladies… lifting 5 pounds of weight for every exercise will not do much good. You are already used to carrying around a 5+ pound purse, so your body will not be impressed! Make sure you try to up the weight you are lifting, but remember, if it feels too heavy, it probably is.
