WHEN CALLS THE HEART
A 12-episode heartwarming family drama based on the bestselling book series by Canadian author Janette Oke, premieres April 16 at 8 p.m. ET – it features adventure, drama, romance & mounties!Remember those dashing red uniforms and handsome men on horses? Well, “When Calls the Heart” is bringing “Mounties” back. The new TV series tells the captivating story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Army Wives’ Erin Krakow), a young teacher who is uprooted from her high society life, and unto a classroom post in a 1910s coal town in the Western Frontier. There, she encounters not only the harsh climate and restless students, but also the town’s new Constable, the handsome Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing).
Emmy-nominee Lori Loughlin (Full House) plays Abigail Stanton, a wife and mother whose husband, the foreman of the mine, along with a dozen other miners, has just been killed in an explosion. The series also features Vancouver-based Chelah Horsdal (“Blackstone,” “Hell on Wheels”).
Guest stars include Golden Globe/Emmy winner James Brolin (“Castle”), Emmy-nominee Jack Wagner (“General Hospital”), and Charlotte Hegele (“Bomb Girls”).
Directed by Genie-award winner and Canadian filmmaking legend, Anne Wheeler, as well as Emmy-nominee Neill Fearnley (“R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour”, “Arctic Air”), and Michael Landon Jr (whose father is responsible for beloved shows like “Little House on the Prairie” & “Bonanza,” in which he starred).
