MomMomOnTheGo recently got introduced to the Beam Toothbrush. The Beam ToothBrush is a manual toothbrush that has its very own app. As soon as I heard about the Beam Toothbrush having its very own app, I was very excited to check it out.
First of all, the Beam Toothbrush comes in pink or blue, so of course, my little one and I chose pink 🙂 She LOVES pink after all. As soon as she saw the new pink toothbrush she was excited. Then she saw that it had a pink light and she got more excited. The toothbrush will glow to tell your little one to keep brushing and will start to flash quickly if they stop brushing when their two minutes is not up yet.
Of course I downloaded the free Beam Toothbrush app and made my little one her very own profile. I connected our beam Toothbrush to my Samsung Galaxy S3, but it is also compatible with other Android smartphones as well as Apple products. The app is super easy to use, colorful and has stars which is something that kids can relate to. My little one gets excited about getting 5 stars, perfect score.
The Beam Toothbrush runs on one AA battery. The battery runs the light and technology in the toothbrush. The toothbrush itself is a manual toothbrush. The lifespan of the battery varies based on use, but is rated as able to last for 90 days. The memory on the Beam Toothbrush holds 49 brushings which is something I love. I like not having to sync the toothbrush after every use. I have to admit though, that in the beginning, my little one wanted to see her results right away and had be syncing it after every use. she was very excited about the phone telling her how she was doing. She really loved the visualization and rewards of getting stars for a job well done.
The great thing too about the Beam Toothbrush is that when your children are ready to start brushing on their own, you still get a report on the app of how they did. Did they brush, did they brush for their two minutes? All the information will be shown on the app.
It is super easy to sync the toothbrush to the app and get all the information from the toothbrush. As I said, you just need to remember to do it before you pass the 49 uses, which I find really easy to do. I find a great plan, once the initial excitement wears off, is to download it every Sunday and then go over the information with your kids, or in my case, my little one. For those that do not know, my little one is 6 years old.
My middle one who is turning 11 very soon, would have loved a Beam Toothbrush as well. We are looking into getting her one now. My middle one could definitely use the Beam Toothbrush so that she learned how long she realistically needs to be brushing her teeth. The only problem with my middle one is she is not crazy at all about pink or blue 🙁 So one recommendation I would have for Beam is to make a third color. Maybe a green or purple would be a good third color.
Let’s talk about size of the toothbrush. We have the adult one and it is a great size for my 6 year old. I would also purchase the adult one for my middle one. I like the size of the adult one and my little one can maneuver it perfectly.
With the younger children, you have to make sure that they do not submerge it in water. There is a battery on the toothbrush and the last thing that you want is for that battery to get wet in there. We never had a problem with the battery getting wet. My little one was old enough to understand not to submerge the toothbrush at all.
I also like that you can create challenges on the app for brushing. My little one was not up for the challenges because she just liked getting all the stars.
I recommend that if you are purchasing the beam Toothbrush that you purchase extra heads with your toothbrush. The extra heads are only $3.99 which is very reasonably priced I think. Typically, it seems that dentists recommend that you replace your toothbrush every 3 months, so you will need those extra heads to replace the old one when it is time.
I loved yesterday when I saw Beam announce an even new lower price for their Beam Toothbrush. At the time of this review, you can purchase the Beam Toothbrush for $24.99. For the technology built into the Beam Toothbrush, I think that it is very reasonably priced.
Overall, MomMomOnTheGo loves gadgets and apps and I really love the Beam Toothbrush. My little one and I recommend the Beam Toothbrush. My little one wanted me to add that she recommends the pink Beam Toothbrush 🙂 As always, with any medical product, MomMomOnTheGo recommends that you talk to your doctor or dentist to ensure it is a right fit for you and your health.
Remember to stay connected with Beam on Facebook and Twitter.
