One of my little one’s favorite places is Build A Bear. There is nothing more precious to my little one than her stuffed animals that line her room and her bed. She was extremely excited when I handed her Merry Mint Pup as her newest stuffed animal to love and take care of.
Merry Mint Pup is an adorable, white puppy with cute candy swirls in her ears and on her paws. My little one has her Merry Mint Pup dressed just as the one pictured above. She is coordinated in her lovely red outfit, with matching bone, and hair bows. We ended up going to Build A Bear to get Merry Mint Pup her red dog bed and of course a leash so my little one can walk her around.
To know how much my little one loves Build A Bear and treasures her stuffed animals, you simply need to take a look around her room. I have honestly lost count as to how many Build A Bear stuffies that my little one has now accumulated. The honored place in my little one’s room is her bed and only the most treasured of stuffies get to land a spot in the limited spaces available on her bed.
I had to draw the line on Merry Mint Pup’s bed on my little one’s bed as it got a little too full at the bottom of her bed! So Merry Mint Pup’s red bed is on the floor of her room and after walks Merry Mint Pup gets to rest in her red, silky, royal bed.
I really love Build A Bear. It is a store that we frequent often enough that the staff at our local store recognizes us when we come in to shop. I love that my little one gets to build her Build A Bear and that once they are home, they help tap into her imaginative play and caring nature.
Here is a little about Build A Bear as quoted from their website;
Build A Bear was born from an idea my friend Katie – who was 10 years old at the time – and I had when we were out shopping for stuffed toys. When we couldn’t find the stuffed toy she wanted, she said, “These are so easy, we could make them.” She meant we could do a craft project, but what I heard was so much bigger.
I looked around to see if we could buy a business, like a factory that made stuffed animals and make it even more successful. I found a few that made stuffed animals, but no one wanted to sell. Katie thought we should just do it and so we did. We decided to reinvent the idea of making your own stuffed animals for mall- based retailing. After all, Ray Kroc from McDonald’s didn’t invent hamburgers and Howard Schultz from Starbucks didn’t invent coffee, they just invented how to sell more and how to sell it better.
Every adult I asked about the idea said it would never work – why would anyone ever want to make their own stuffed animal? But every kid said “Where is it?” and “When can I do it?” My teddy bear, “Teddy”, was my first best friend and helped shape who I am today, so I knew just how meaningful teddy bear friendship could be.
We opened our first store in 1997 at the Saint Louis Galleria in St. Louis, Missouri. Today there are over 400 stores worldwide, and just over 70 million furry friends adventuring around the globe.I am so proud that at Build-A-Bear Workshop and now in Build-A-Bearville™ virtual world we have created a safe place where kids can play, express their creativity and use their imaginations.
One 10 year old girl was the inspiration for this entire company – think of the difference you can make! Always believe in your dream.
