Well the weather outside is frightful…well actually it isn’t. I live in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia and we are lucky to get a week of snow any given winter. I cannot even remember the last time we had a white Christmas…actually, I am not sure that I have ever had a white Christmas since I have lived in Vancouver.
I do know winter though. I grew up in Ottawa, Ontario…the Capital of Canada. I remember freezing my butt off in Ottawa. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ottawa, I love the snow and I especially love and horribly miss having a white Christmas. I admittedly have gotten used to only having to deal with a weeks worth of snow in Vancouver though, I would just like it to fall every year at Christmas.
My love for the Canadian Winter Wonderlands had me flipping the pages of Chicken Soup for the Soul: O Canada The Wonders of Winter. I loved reading this book and felt so in touch with so many of the stories. Whether it was the awesome blizzards that reminded me of those from my childhood days in Ottawa, or the greener stories that reminded me of my recent Christmases in Vancouver, they were all awesome from start to finish.

101 Stories about Bad Weather, Good Times and Great Sports
Canadian winters are notorious! But this collection will warm your heart, brighten your day, and lift your spirits. Any Canadian — from east to west coast; from city to rural — will love the 101 stories in this new collection about embracing those long winter days and making the most of them. Filled with amusing and encouraging stories about weathering the cold, creating warm memories with family and friends, and playing great winter sports.
Let’s face it, one thing we like to talk about in Canada is our weather and more specifically, our winters. We are proud of our ability to endure them, taking what mother nature throws our way in stride. Ice, cold and snow storms means romantic walks in the snow, skating rinks in the yard and snowbanks taller than your parents. We love it, we laugh at it and we are proud we can endure it. A frozen lake means we can still fish; it is called ice fishing and we will even make a shortcut across a frozen river in the winter in the form of a ice road. I have done all of these and more and they all tap into the essence of my Canadian heart and soul.
You will love the 101 stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul: O Canada The Wonders of Winter. One of the best parts I love about Chicken Soup for the Soul books is the format. I love the short stories. I love that I can sneak the time in to read one here and there and I never feel like I lost the idea or story line of the book.
