I wanted to let everyone know what I think of the Crayola Color Wonder Magic Light Brush System.
If you have not heard of it, it is a gel paint system that works with the same concept of other color wonder products. The gel paint with the Color Wonder Magic Light Brush only paints on the Color Wonder paper.
Ever since my 3 year old saw the commercial for the Color Wonder Magic Light Brush she has wanted it. Actually saying she wanted it is an understatement. She was asking for it non-stop.
Take a look at how it works.
Well, to my daughter’s glee she received the Color Wonder Magic Light Brush system as a gift for Christmas. You should have seen her face. She was more than excited. She wanted the package opened right away and was painting like crazy.
As soon as I saw her painting I knew one thing for sure……I was going to need paint refills right away. She had the entire single package of gel paint that came with the unit, used up within half an hour of the box being opened. She has been asking non-stop ever since she used up her gel paint for me to purchase more.
So off I set to the only store in Canada that I could find and knew that carried the Color Wonder Magic Light Brush system, Walmart. That is where the system was purchased so I assumed they would naturally stock the refills. Guess what, they do not have them at the Walmarts that I have checked.
So I went to Toys R Us. They have neither the system nor the refills.
I checked Zellers, small toys stores and every single place I could think might have Crayola toys. I cannot find the system anywhere but Walmart and I cannot find the refills anywhere in Canada.
So to the Crayola store online I went.
Well, they are out of stock at the Crayola store. At the Crayola store the refills come in packages of two for $9.29 Canadian. The package of two contains one tropical color and one classic color. The problem is that well, right now they are out of stock, but when they were in stock, shipping was over $24.00 for me to order two packages of refills. Too expensive. I could buy an entire new unit just for the cost of the shipping.
The fact that the Crayola Store itself is our of stock of the refills is likely why the price of the refill set is so high at other stores such as above at Amazon.
So I am left with a 3 year old who has a toy she loves and is unable to use it because the refills appear to not be available in Canada right now.
If anyone has found the refills in Canada, please let me know where I can get them. I am keeping my eye on Walmart and Toys R Us because I assume they will be the first to get the refills.
If you are in the USA, you have no issues. The Color Wonder Magic Light Brush System and refills is available pretty much everywhere, from Costco, Walmart, Toys R Us, to Amazon.
It is a great system. It can get messy as it is a gel that they are painting with, but it is great that it as far as we have discovered, does only mark the Color Wonder paper. I would make sure to have your children put a towel or something underneath for quick and easy clean up.
Would I get the Color Wonder Magic Light Brush again now after seeing my 3 year old use it? Yes, I would. I would rather be able to get refills right away and the fact that I cannot is poor planning and marketing of the product for sure.
