As society has progressed over the years to place focus on an increasingly mobile and fast-paced lifestyle for consumers, the fast fashion industry and idea that we should constantly be buying new things whether that’s new clothing, new shoes, or new accessories has become more and more dominantly reflected in the wants and needs of consumers. Where we once had four fashion seasons in a year, it seems like there’s closer to 52 today, with new stuff being put out by many brands every week.
As a result, so much of the clothing and accessories being created today, unfortunately, ends up in landfills, leaving important and viable materials left to be disposed of in a way that offers little consideration for the care of our planet or the ways in which these products may have been able to be used productively.
In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that 3.8 billion pounds of consumer waste is created by the fashion and jewelry industry every year, much of which has the potential to be repurposed and recycled into something with positive impact instead.
However, over the past few years, more and more consumers have become aware of the ways in which buying into this fast fashion ideology has lasting effects on our planet and well-being.
Because of a growing consumer consciousness around fast fashion and its negative impacts more and more customers have begun to invest in fashion brands that place a greater focus on eco-fashion and environmentally-focused products, and that most certainly extends beyond the realm of clothing into the world of fashion jewelry a well.

To break it down a little further, eco-fashion, for the most part, focusses on three core things; reducing, reusing and recycling.
For Two A, this element of eco-fashion greatly impacts the way that we design and create each of our collections, placing a great focus on being able to reuse and recycle products where we can into beautiful, unique bohemian jewelry pieces. At Two A Jewelry we have always tried to design our fashion jewelry with a strong focus on the environment and the impact we can have on making a difference by simply repurposing elements that already exist and focusing on intentional and purposeful design.
Whether its coral, textile elements, fragments salvaged from the shells of coconuts, or recycled pieces of metal, Two A has designed its pieces with a focus on combining shape and texture in a way that is both sleek, modern and bohemian while still containing elements reminiscent of the natural world.
Being sensitive to every element of design is incredibly important in creating conscientious fashion jewelry and that’s something that Two A has always tried to place a core focus on when developing our pieces. Empowering material and its recreation is something that not only makes an effort to reduce and minimize environmental impact, but it also results in a constantly evolving language of both shape and form that is both simultaneously bohemian and classic.
If more brands thought about the environmental impact they have in their production whether that’s their means of creation or materials used, the amount of waste and negative affect the fashion and jewelry industry presently has on the environment has the potential of being drastically reduced.
Environmentally conscious brands are the way forward if we are going to protect the beautiful planet we call home and more and more over the coming years will brands have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the environmental effects the fashion industry has on our environment.
