FlyOver Canada Celebrates Chinese New Year with
a Double Feature Ride Experience!Limited engagement of “Flight of the Dragon” to be shown for the first time outside China
Vancouver, BC – FlyOver Canada is celebrating Chinese New Year in style with a limited engagement event running from January 17 to March 2 featuring the North American debut of the Chinese ride film ‘Flight of the Dragon’. During this period the Dragon ride film will be featured back-to-back with the hugely successful FlyOver Canada experience.
‘Flight of the Dragon’ was produced by award-winning Los Angeles-based studio Super78 Productions for a theme park located in Shanghai. This is the first time the film has been taken outside of China and provides a unique opportunity to see some of China’s most spectacular sights. The experience at FlyOver Canada will be enhanced by Chinese New Year decorations, a special pre-boarding welcome and other elements in keeping with the Chinese New Year theme.
“FlyOver Canada is excited to celebrate such an important holiday here in Vancouver,” said Stephen Geddes, President of Soaring Attractions LP. “We hope guests will enjoy the contrast between the two experiences and appreciate not only the different scenery found in China and Canada but also the different film-making techniques used by our team for FlyOver Canada compared to Super78’s approach with Flight of the Dragon.”
The Chinese or Lunar New Year, a traditional holiday celebrated on the first day of the Chinese calendar, is a centuries old tradition that brings together families to celebrate the coming year. Parades, feasts, and firecrackers accompany the holiday, which also commemorates the corresponding animal in the Chinese zodiac.
“We invite the public to celebrate the Year of the Horse with a special addition to our new flight simulation ride, which is an immersive look at the spectacular landscape of an ancient civilization,” said Andrew Strang, CEO of Soaring Attractions LP.
“FlyOver Canada has been a surprise hit for many visitors who arrived in Vancouver only to find out they can now experience the entire country while here — and it provides a lure to bring this visitors back time and again,” said Rick Antonson, President & CEO, Tourism Vancouver. “One reason people visit Vancouver is because they know we have the best backyard in the world, and it’s called Canada — and FlyOver Canada shows Vancouver as the gateway to wonderful explorations.”
FlyOver Canada allows guests to soar from coast to coast on a breathtaking aerial journey using the latest in virtual flight ride technology. The attraction, the first of its kind in Canada, is a fully immersive experience with state of the art special effects including wind, mist, and scents.
