Junior Learning – CVC Builders Activity Cards & Tub

January 1, 2015 By MomMomOnTheGo

There are certain companies that I love to support and Junior Learning is one of them. The reason that Junior Learning has my support is that they have a wonderful line of amazing, fun, educational products.

The latest Junior Learning products that MomMomOnTheGo and her Little One have tested out are the CVC Builder Activity Cards and the CVC Tub. You have to purchase these two products separately, but they get used together.

Here is the CVC builder Activity Cards

cvc builders cards

Set of 48 CVC cards with picture and color guides for building 3 letter CVC words with CVC Tri-Blocks® Tub. Children follow the progression as they learn to sound out and build words. 3 levels to follow: blue, orange, violet. Teach phonemic awareness, synthetic phonics, spelling. Cards are self-checking with answers on back. CVC Tri-Blocks® Tub sold separately. Ages 5-6, Grades K-1

The CVC Tub has the letters that you need to work along with the CVC Builder Activity Cards.

cvc tub

Build words with your Tri-Blocks® and learn consonants and short vowels (CVC).Turn each block and manipulate the middle vowel sound or change a spelling with a consonant. Tri-Blocks® let children know spelling rules by their color coding and unique block orientations. Also, for use with CVC Builder and Word Builder box card sets (sold separately). Teach phonemic awareness, word building and spelling. Tub contains 90 x Tri-Blocks® Ages 5-8, Grades K-3 WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD – SMALL PARTS. Not for children under 3 yrs.

If you want to make reading and spelling a little more fun for your Little One, then I suggest you take a look at the CVC Building Activity Cards and Tub.

The CVC Builder Activity Cards come with 48 cards. There is an image on the one side of the card and the word on the reverse. One the side of the image, there is a dot for each letter of the word, that is also color coded to coincide with the colors the letters are in the CVC Tub.

There are a number of ways that you can use these two products individually and together. You can turn the time with these products into a fun game to make spelling and reading a ton more fun.

An activity that we find fun is to take a number of cards and put them in order to tell a bit of a story. Then spell the words out and voila, your Little One has made up and spelled the words to the story. Of course we have to fill in a few blanks for words not on the cards, but it really is a wonderful and creative way to use the two products for some fun learning time.

The CVC Builder Activity Cards are made of very thick cardboard and are sturdy and durable. The CVC Tub of letters are plastic and are also very durable as well as easy to wipe clean if need be.

Please note that the CVC Tub of letters are small and would present a choking hazard so the age ranking is for ages 5 and up or Kindergarten and up. The CVC Builder Activity Cards are rated for ages 5 to 6 and I agree with this age ranking. The CVC Tub can be used for higher ages though and is appropriately age ranked at 5 to 8 years old.
