There are a number of companies that I have just truly adored ever since I discovered them and one of my all-time favorites is Maplelea.
Why do I adore Maplelea so much?
*Maplelea is Canadian
*Maplelea makes incredibly high-quality products.
*Maplelea dolls encourage hours upon hours of imaginative play.
Really there are a ton of reasons that I love Maplelea, but those are the top three reasons.
My Little One loves having dolls that look like her…a little mini-her, to play with. She actually has three Maplelea dolls and the newest that was added to her collection is extra special to her. She more recently added Saila to her Maplelea Girl collection. Why is Saila so special to my Little One? Well with our Mohawk heritage, my Little One felt a special connection to Saila because of her Inuit heritage. My Little One felt that Saila was the closest to looking like her and being the most similar to her as compared to her previous Maplelea dolls (which of course she still loves).

Hi! My name is Saila Qilavvaq and I live the furthest north!
My home is in Iqaluit, Nunavut. I speak English and Inuktitut and am proud of my Inuit heritage. I love wearing my traditional amauti, kamiik and Pang hat, and eating country foods, pizza and my grandma’s bannock and crowberry jam.
Our family likes to go to our camp in all seasons. In summer when the ice is gone, we travel up the coast by boat, and in winter we all pile into the qamutiik that Dad pulls with the snowmobile.
I am so excited–I am getting a new puppy! He is almost all white and so I named him Nanuq, which means polar bear.
There are different lineups of Maplelea dolls and here is a little more about their dolls and the company….
Maplelea has been producing high quality 18” dolls and Canadian-themed accessories since 2003. Created by Canadian mom Kathryn Gallagher Morton to be an alternative to the diva-type dolls on the market, the Maplelea Girls™ are age-appropriate dolls that promote creative play and healthy, active lifestyles, while fostering a love and interest in Canadian culture, heritage and geography.
The Maplelea line consists of 7 Maplelea Girls and over a dozen Maplelea Friends, 18″ premium vinyl dolls with soft, huggable bodies, poseable arms and legs, eyes that open and close, and a wide range of hair, skin, and eye colours. Each Maplelea Girl is from a different region of Canada and has a uniquely Canadian story to tell. Each Maplelea Friend helps you create your own Canadian story. There is also over 250 accessories, including doll furniture, outfits, play sets, and matching girl & doll clothing to choose from.
Maplelea (Avonlea Traditions Inc.), based in Newmarket, ON, is 100% Canadian owned and operated and sells its award-winning products exclusively through its mail order catalogue, online at www.maplelea.com, or by calling 1-800-668-4339.
All Maplelea dolls are priced at $99.99, a price that hasn’t changed since they were first introduced in 2003. They are intended for children 6 – 12+ years of age, but safe for children 3+.
My Little One adores her Maplelea dolls and they actually have a bed that they share right beside my Little One’s bed.

My Little One’s dolls stay close by and are brought out quite often for individual, imaginative play time and play time when friends come over. Wonderful adventures are had and the newest adventures with Saila that I have overheard have been amazing. I can hear the connection between my Little One and Saila with my Little One’s sense of being First Nation and the ties she feels through that and Saila’s Inuit background.
Saila has a number of accessories available that accentuate her heritage.
My Little One has the Amazing Amauti for Saila.

This item has been made in Nunavut according to traditional design. In her journal pages Saila tells you all about the traditions of her amazing amauti.
She also has the Pang Hat for Saila.

Saila’s Pang hat, made in Nunavut, keeps her head very warm during the cold Arctic winter. In her journal pages, she tells you about the community of Pangnirtung where her hat was made.
The quality of Saila and all the accessories are amazing. These are the type of products that will be kept and handed down for generations to come.
I really could go on forever about how great Maplelea products are, but just some of the awards that Maplelea has won really says a lot…
