Queen Elizabeth Park Vancouver – Zipline

July 23, 2015 By MomMomOnTheGo

If you are familiar with Vancouver, BC then you probably know that Queen Elizabeth Park is not only one of the most beautiful parks around, but offers the best views of Vancouver. Well now there is a chance to get even a better bird’s eye view of Vancouver from Queen Elizabeth Park on the new and temporary zipline that Flightlinez Vancouver and GreenHeart have installed in the park.

The Queen Elizabeth Park zipline is open from 11 am to 8 pm, seven days a week until later this fall. So yes, this is a limited time to take in the most spectacular view of Vancouver that you can find.

The zipline was installed to help celebrate the 75th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth Park. A portion of the proceeds from the zipline will go back to the Vancouver Park Board to help fund other parks and activities.

Ticket prices for the zipline are as follows:

*$14 for youth
*$20 for adults
*Buy advance tickets online for a $2 discount.
*Repeat rides cost $5.

There is no age restriction but every rider must weigh between 27 to 113 kg which is 60 – 250 pounds. They do have a scale there to weight you to ensure that your within the weight range.

MomMomOnTheGo and crew headed out to the zipline yesterday for some great views and fun. My Little One, who is 8 years old was ecstatic to be there and probably could have done the zipline all day long if I had let her.

This is her all geared up in the harness waiting to go up the platform to take flight….

Once you get all geared up by one of the staff, you wait at the bottom of the stairs until you are called up. You climb a number of steps up to the platform and more staff is there to check your harness again and get you hooked on the line, ready for take off.

Once you are hooked on the line, the staff communicate to the ending platform for when you can be released for your trip. The zipline trip lasts under 30 seconds of flight time and soars a distance of 600 feet across the park and approximately 100 feet in the air at the highest point.

There are three lines that parallel each other, but they were running riders two at a time with one zipline empty in between the two riders.

The views are awesome. We went on a bit of a cloudy day and it was absolutely beautiful. I recommend going any day you can, but if the clearer the day, the better views you will get.

At the end of the zipline you are met by staff that will get you unhooked from the zipline and out of the harness. Once you are done, you go down off the platform and are in the midst of the breathtaking gardens within Queen Elizabeth Park.

I recommend that you take your time walking the park and enjoying the scenery from down below the zipline as well. I love the gardens and they offer the most amazing photo opportunities.
