Grown in the South Island, raw merino wool is shorn from the sheep, carded and then sent to the mill. Our merino is dyed, spun and knitted into a super-fine, soft, warm fabric. It’s then cut, assembled and sewn into gorgeous natural blankets, gowns, hats and mittens for your little one.
About The Baby’s Room
OWN BRAND – The owners worked with a small number of business partners to create ‘The Baby’s Room’. We focus on high quality clothing, baby essentials, merino and unique toys for ages up to two. We sell mostly online, but have our studio open from 12-2 Monday to Friday for city shoppers.
In Winter 2009, The Baby’s Room created its first range of colourful New Zealand made merino including hats, mitts, booties, blankets and gowns.
OUR PEOPLE – We can take orders over the phone from around NZ with our free phone number 0800-NZMERINO.
WEB – In September 2009 The Baby’s Room e-commerce website was launched, allowing people the convenience to shop from their desk around the world at www.thebabysroom.co.nz. We specialise in ecommerce – all goods we send out include free wrapping with messages in a card if required. We courier goods using fastway tracked courier services and we ship to NZ nationwide, Australia, USA, UK, Canada and other countries by arrangement.
SUSTAINABILITY – We love NZ made goods such as The Baby’s Room own-brand products. Other brands that make their goods in NZ are Blue Earth, Honey Sticks and Nuzilla.
AWARDS – The Baby’s Room has been recognized often by its peers, winning a Top Shop Award for Innovation Excellence in Retail in October 2008, only six months after opening. The Baby’s Room was up against 91 other entrants in Wellington. The Baby’s Room was also a finalist in the 2010 Wellington Gold Awards. The Babys Room was the runner up the Kids Fashion Review NZ Retailer of the Year (runner up) twice in 2012 and 2013.
