Three years ago, my Little One, who was 5 at the time and I reviewed The Reading Game. Now there is a 2nd Edition of The Reading Game with a some improvements and enhancements.
First of all let’s talk about what The Reading Game is….
The Reading Game includes six decks of matching word playing cards, six sets of picture flashcards, six beautifully illustrated story books, & a Teacher and Parent’s Guide
Ages 4 & Up
2 or More Players
The Reading Game in the yellow box is the 2nd Edition. The 1st Edition of The Reading Game came in a blue box.
What is the difference between the 1st and 2nd Editions of The Reading Game? Well based on parent and teacher feedback the following can be found in the 2nd Edition of The Reading Game:
*Picture flashcards to help in the transition from stand-alone words to short sentences and phrases.
*Introduces capitalization and punctuation in the flashcards and storybooks.
Since the initial release of The Reading Game, the game has won seven awards, including the Dr Toy, Tillywig Brain Child of the Year Award, Academics choice smart book award, National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval, and the Teachers Trendsetter Award.
Here is a short video to help demonstrate how The Reading Game works….
The Reading Game works through 6 books and introduces new words in the progression all while having fun. So in turn, little ones can play, read, and have fun all at the same time.
The characters picked for the books are intriguing for kids which grabs their attention and makes the books interesting and fun to read.
I love the addition of the flashcards. It was great feedback for The Reading Game and I am glad that the 2nd Edition has included them in it.
If you are looking for something to help make reading fun for your little ones then I highly recommend that you check out The Reading Game 2nd Edition. It is a totally fun way, to get your kids reading. With the summer coming up, The Reading Game would be a great way to keep your kids reading when not in school.

We are a reading family! I started reading to my kids when I was pregnant and to this day they all love to read! I encourage it in my little one by making it fun for her, letting her have her own library card since birth and picking her own books out and checking them out by herself since she was 2 years old. Thank you for this awesome chance 🙂
We joined the summer reading program at the local library and the boys love writing down each book title as we read it.
We encourage our kids to read for 15 minutes a day & they are working toward a reward.
We read together taking turns doing so.
we always read books before bed! my niece loves reading
We started early on with all four of our kids, reading books to them and developing a love that seems to have lasted!
We encourage reading by having lots of books available, reading together every day and I am often seen reading. My daughter is a reluctant reader though so this would be fantastic!
A large variety of reading material and read everyday, and make it fun!!
