A couple of new Google products just entered our household and they are the Google Pixel 2 and the Google Pixel 2 XL. We have had time to set up our Google Pixel 2 and I am currently setting up the Google Pixel 2 XL as I write this. 🙂
We have had a bit of time over the last couple of days to try out a few things on the Google Pixel 2 and so far we are in love. I can bring you more details once I have had more time with the phones, but as for now, I am in LOVE with the camera, the ease of use, screen, and well…yes Google Assistant.
The Google Pixel 2 is for my not so little, Little One, who is about to turn 11 years old. She just received the phone last night after I had set it all up. I will be bringing you a post about Google Family Link as soon as we have put it to the full test, so keep your eyes peeled as I know that anyone with kids will be interested in finding out more about Google Family Link.
For now, we have fallen in love with our Google Pixel 2 and Google Assistant. All you have to do is say “OK Google” or “Hey Google” and ask Google whatever you want. I am actually thinking that I might hear Mom with a question following a lot less now that my Little One has her very own Google Pixel 2 with Google Assistant. In 24 hours I have not once heard her most common question, “Mom, what is the weather?” What I have heard is, “OK Google, what is the weather?” It is pretty cute to watch my Little One interact with Google Assistant and neat to at least not be the meteorologist in our house anymore. 🙂
With March Break around the corner, there is a lot that Google Assistant can do for you…
Check flight status and plan trips
Google Assistant makes it easy to find the travel information you need—from planning an upcoming trip, finding nearby events to converting currency.
“Ok Google, check my flight [flight name/number].”
“Ok Google, convert $100 CAD to U.S. dollars.”
Plan a day trip with the family
Don’t get stuck in traffic when planning familreal-time with Google Assistant’s real time traffic and weather updates.
“Ok Google, how long will it take to get to Ripley’s Aquarium?”
“Hey Google, what time does the Calgary Zoo open tomorrow?”
“Hey Google, where is the nearest Thai restaurant?”
Play a game with the family
Hours of laughs await thanks for Google Home’s family-friendly games. Lucky Trivia anyone?
“Ok Google, play Mad Libs.”
“Hey Google, play Lucky Trivia.”
“Ok Google, play Akinator.”
“Hey Google, what sound does a moose make?”
Stay in and catch-up on your favorite podcasts – and with a Chromecast, your favorite shows & videos
Let Google help you binge from anywhere in your home.
“Ok Google, play Serial podcast.”
“Hey Google, watch Moana on Netflix.”
“Hey Google, watch cats in water on YouTube on my living room TV.”
Experiment in the kitchen
Make your favorite dish or try something new with step-by-step cooking instructions.
“Ok Google, find a recipe for chicken parmesan.”
To get started, say “Ok Google, start recipe.”
Kitchen dance party? “Hey Google, play a dance party playlist.”
“Hey Google, how many calories are in an avocado?”
Catch up on your zzz’s
Tune out unwanted noise with music or the soothing sounds of nature.
“Hey Google, play ocean sounds.”
“Ok Google, play my mellow sounds playlist.”
“Hey Google, let’s meditate”
We are in love with the convenience that Google Assistant has brought us in so many ways, plus Google Assistant is just plain fun. We have asked Google Assistant to tell us their favorite color, to tell a joke, and more. It has provided quite the entertainment for us and that is just in the last 24 hours.
No doubt we are newbies when it comes to our new Google Pixel 2 products as well as with Google Assistant, but I wanted to share how much fun and help Google Assistant can be especially as we approach that crazy time of year known as March Break. 🙂
Ok Google, now show them how great you are! 🙂
