MomMomOnTheGo and crew recently went to The Brick Games in Vancouver.
Let me start by saying that if you follow me regularly, you know how much my family loves Lego. My Little One is a fanatic about Lego Friends and we love to build sets together. So to get a chance to go to The Brick Games was beyond exciting.
I have to admit that I knew that there were talented individuals out there that could build some pretty amazing things out of Lego, but my mind was blown away at The Brick Games. From young to older, there were amazing pieces of Lego works of art. Some pieces even moved and had working parts! Okay I admit it….I never knew or even thought of making Lego with working parts. Just take a look at this creation called Lego Pinball and created by Bradley Wong who is 9 years old.
As an attendee of the event, you can be a spectator or a participant of either the Ready, Set, Build event or the My Own Creation event. Events run for groups of all ages starting at 5 years old.
The Ready, Set, Build event is where
The Brick Games will provide competitors with LEGO bricks and announce a theme. All competitors will then have a set amount of time to create a unique model that demonstrates what that theme means to them. Judges will choose a winner from each age category and award prizes accordingly.
For the My Own Creation event,
Competitors are asked to bring a unique creation (no exact sets) to showcase their unique LEGO building skills. We simply ask that the creation fit in a space that is 12″ x 12″ so that pieces can be displayed properly.
Admission ranges from $5 up to $20 depending on whether you are a spectator or a competitor and how many events you wish to compete in.
You can get a feel for The Brick Games from this video of a past event:
I loved all the supporters in the form of companies that were at The Brick Games this year. We were able to get a Lego Friends set from Toy Traders at a discounted price. We made a sweat purchase from Sticky’s Candy. We also got a wonderful butterfly balloon from Click & Clown.
I was also excited to be the winner of a spa package for 4 courtesy of Ultimate Mobile Spa. I also loved the oTENTik display and MomMomOnTheGo and crew were able to stay in an oTENTik later the same night.
I recommend you try to get out to The Brick Games, especially if you are or have someone in your family that loves Lego. In my opinion, Lego is one of the nest toys around.
