RICHMOND, BC – July 18, 2016 – The Canadian Red Cross and London Drugs are inviting youth aged 10 to 18 to participate in Lemonade For Change this summer. #LemonadeforChange is about youth using their entrepreneurial spirit to donate funds raised to the Canadian Red Cross to aid in relief efforts in their communities. By participating, youth have the opportunity to win prizes including tickets to two coveted community and global-minded events in the fall, WE DAY Vancouver and WE DAY Alberta.

“Lemonade for Change is all about celebrating entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to give back, by providing youth in our communities with an opportunity to think beyond their own needs, to those who need help in our greater communities,” says Kevin Sorby, GM Retail Operations, London Drugs. “Everyone loves the local neighbourhood lemonade stand. Lemonade for Change celebrates a youth’s decision to participate, to assist in even a small way, in helping fellow members of the community.”

From now through to August 31st, participating young entrepreneurs will be tasked with re-imagining the traditional lemonade stand, leveraging their social media prowess and their personal networks, to help raise awareness of their own Lemonade for Change business. With support from London Drugs, and in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, these young philanthropists have the power to help change our world – it starts with just one person.

“Canadian Red Cross and London Drugs have partnered on a variety of important initiatives for several years now,” says Kimberley Nemrava, Vice-President, Canadian Red Cross B.C. & Yukon. “With this modern twist on the lemonade stand, youth can get their creative juices flowing and encourage their communities to join them in their fundraising efforts. Whether it’s a forest fire or another disaster or emergency, funds raised through Lemonade for Change will help the Red Cross and local communities be ready during times of great need.”

As a thank you for helping communities via Lemonade For Change, London Drugs will give nine lucky participants tickets for two to WE Day Alberta or WE Day Vancouver where participating youth will celebrate with other game changers from around the world. The nine runner up prizes and our grand prize Entrepreneurial Prize Pack will be awarded on September 7th, 2016 and includes:
· Certified Data HandyTab 10-inch Tablet

· Tucano Finatex Shoulder Case

· Epson Workforce All-in One Printer

· Netgear Nighthawk Router

· Two tickets to WE Day

· $100 London Drugs gift card
