I have a lot to say about the pureWash Pro so let’s start right from installing it….
Installation is very easy and does take about 20 minutes. Here are a couple of things to remember about installing your device as per my recommendations….
*Make sure you install the pureWash Pro near your washing machine so the hoses will comfortably reach.
*Do not install in above a electrical outlet in case there is a water leak.
*Make a drip line safety in your electrical cord as you would with any electrical appliance around water. This means that if water gets on the cord, that it never can roll along the cord and into the plug. A portion of the cord is always lower than the plug/outlet.
*Remember you are installing this unit around pipes probably so make sure you are not hitting one on install. I personally avoided the studs and anything my stud finder beeped at and used the anchors to install the unit. The unit is very light and mine is very secure with the anchors and screws.
I did experience a horrible time with the provided black hose that comes with the pureWash Pro. No matter how I installed it, the hose kept leaking. So off to the store I went to purchase a metal hose. In no time flat, the metal washing machine hose was installed and working without a leak. So the one improvement I would ask of GreenTech Environmental would be to provide the metal washing machine hoses instead of the black hosing.
The next important thing before you have the pureWash Pro onto the wall hanger is to set the unit on the back to the type of washing machine you have. Just turn the dial with a screwdriver to the correct setting of front load or top load.
At this point, when you have the unit installed and the water turned back on, you are ready to wash away. I recommend bringing everyone in the family into the laundry room and educating them on from this point onward using only cold water and no laundry detergent. Yep, you read that correctly. Did you hear the $avings sound right there?!
I have done oh so many loads of laundry already with my pureWash Pro that I have lost count. We have 6 people in our family so you can just imagine the laundry we have.
I have used only cold water and no detergent and our clothes smell very clean and are really soft.
I tried drying loads with fabric softener and without fabric softener and I have to admit I still like having fabric softener in my dryer. I really hate any signs of static in my clothes and without the fabric softener, my loads had static after a turn through the dryer.
You can see the pureWash Pro is working when the little window in the middle lights up blue and has a ton of little bubbles in the view window. This happens when the washing machine is actively drawing water through the pureWash Pro.
I am happy to report that the pureWash Pro was able to handle dirt on clothes from gardening work. The toughest dirt came out and the clothes smelled fresh, clean, and were soft as ever. My Little One’s clothes get totally clean even after making mud pies. If you do have a stubborn stain, the instructions do say that you can spot treat the stain then put in in the wash. I have not had to spot treat any of our stains as of yet.
The only maintenance that you need to do to your pureWash Pro is replacing the dryer cartridge when the blue beads turn all pink. The dryer cartridge is said to last between 3 to 12 months all depending on your water quality. I have been using our pureWash Pro for a week now and there is no sign of anything pink yet. I will have to update you later on how long the dryer cartridge lasts for us.
The dryer cartridges can be purchased online at the pureWash Pro website. At the time of this review, the dryer cartridges are $30 each.
