at the Britannia Heritage Shipyards Nation Historic Site
August 9 –11, 2013
11:00am – 6:00pm
British Columbia’s oldest shipyard will come to life with festive, maritime-themed décor, colourful characters and ingenious exhibits with surprises around each corner. There’s free boarding of the tall ship Lady Washington, which was featured in CTV’s Once Upon a Time and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Festival goers will be entertained by music, roving performers, painters, wood carvers, potters, stilt walkers, puppets, storytellers, dancers, drummers, and much more. Visitors can learn local lore, try their hand at a variety of arts and crafts, be captivated, by friendly pirates and other unexpected unique characters.
Life is but a dream! From 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, be part of the Richmond Maritime Festival’s attempt to break the official Guinness World Record by singing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” in a singing relay led by your hardy host, David C. Jones! Learn more and register to participate (before Aug 7, 2013).
New for 2013! Drop off your clean odd socks at a Sock Drop Box located at Richmond City Hall (Mon-Fri, 8:15am-5pm) or Britannia Shipyards (Tues-Sun, 10am-6pm). Collected socks will be put to good use as art materials to create extraordinary puppets during the festival.
As a part of the festivities this year the festival will be taking a stab at the Guinness World Record for the mass of a nursery rhyme (Row, Row, Row Your Boat) in a round – much harder then one would expect!
