4 Ways that ride sharing can help the environment

September 19, 2017 By MomMomOnTheGo

Ridesharing apps have been around for almost a decade now and their presence can’t be denied. Uber, GrabCar, Lyft – all of them aim to alleviate a pressing traffic concern and their patrons can’t be any happier. Learn more about them by going to rideshareapps.com. One of the most obvious benefits of ridesharing is being able to save money on transportation costs. But aside from that, ridesharing also serves to help the environment. Curious and want to know more? Here are 4 ways ridesharing is affecting the environment in a positive way.

It reduces carbon footprint
The environmental impact of ridesharing is often ignored. But it’s actually a strong lobbying point in case they had to defend their for-profit motives for expansion. For starters, fewer cars on the road mean fewer carbon emissions. Carbon dioxide increases the greenhouse effect. This means our planet is becoming warmer as the heat gets trapped in our atmosphere. Consequently, this leads to global warming as the temperature in the air rises. You know what’s next, melting glaciers, rising sea levels, and sinking coastlines. Of course, cars are not solely to be blamed. It’s really the effect of industrialization. While ridesharing doesn’t exactly promise to save the planet, the fact it’s offering a way to get to work with offending mother nature even further is worth considering!

It eases road congestion
Traffic is always a problem. Especially in highly urbanized cities where everyone has a car and they’re all bringing it to work, ridesharing apps are a friendly solution. Fewer cars on the read mean faster travel. Arriving at your destination early is always a plus. If you’re heading to the office, you may use your extra time to relax a bit or grab a bite before driving to work. It keeps everyone’s head cool and helps you start your day on a positive note. It’s a domino effect!

Less fuel consumption
Ride-sharing apps don’t exactly save you money always. Quite frankly, public transport will still come out cheaper. The real savings is felt by those who own a car. By subscribing to ridesharing apps, they save money on transport, especially fuel costs. Gasoline prices fluctuate, but mostly inflate, and nobody knows when it’s going to turn into a rare commodity. By sharing a ride, you save on fuel consumption and going back to the previous benefits, you help reduce carbon emissions. Mother earth will be proud.

It promotes a cooler environment
Sharing your ride means one less car on the road. That’s one less car belching out lethal fumes to the atmosphere. Everybody knows our planet is sick. All the greenhouse gases, excess heat, and toxic waste is making the earth warmer and warmer. Cool air buffers the effect of climate change and helps our planet recover from pollution. A cool environment is a healthy place to live in. Ridesharing may not be a scalable solution to our planet’s depressing environmental condition, but it’s good to know of its positive effects on the earth.
