Best-Selling Canadian cookbook author and Sweet Potato Chronicle’s Ceri Marsh, to Judge 9th Annual Hands-On Cook-Off Contest With two best-selling cookbooks (How to Feed a Family and The School Year Survival Cookbook), a popular web series known as Love Your Lunch on Food Network.ca and a sought-after cooking blog under her belt, Sweet Potato Chronicle’s Ceri Marsh has more than her fair share of experiences cooking for and sharing meals with her family. It’s this passion and desire to share her love of family meals that led Ceri to become a judge for the 9th Annual Hands-On Cook-Off Contest, presented by Better Together BC.
Co-created by BC’s Dairy Association’s Director of Nutrition Education, Sydney Massey, the Hands-On Cook-Off Contest is Better Together’s passionate reminder to families all over BC to make room for the time-honored tradition of sharing family meals. According to new research, eating family meals, particularly during the teen years, can help develop highly beneficial habits that last a lifetime. These habits include having more frequent family meals, choosing healthier foods at home, eating fewer meals in front of the TV and valuing their own participation in family mealsLaunching April 16th and running until noon PST on May 16th, the contest inspires teens and kids to learn how to cook together and brings families together to participate in creating more family meals and healthier eating habits for generations to come! Growing in popularity each year, the contest has rallied support from schools, parents, celebrity chefs and family groups across BC-and it’s Better Together’s reminder to families to make room for the time honored tradition of family meals.
