As with most products of this type, you need to get the Starter Pack in the beginning. The starter pack provides everything you need to start your Lego Dimensions experience and you can add to the Starter Pack by purchasing any additional pieces that you may want.
STARTER PACK
The LEGO® Dimensions™ Starter Pack is all players need to embark on a fantastic quest. Included in the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack:
• LEGO® Dimensions™ videogame
• LEGO® Toy Pad
• Bricks to build the LEGO® Gateway
• 3 LEGO® minifigures (Batman™, Gandalf™, and Wyldstyle™)
• LEGO® Batmobile vehicleBuild the minifigure heroes and fire-up the game to start the experience, then follow the in-game build instructions to assemble the loose bricks into the LEGO® Gateway, and place the structure on the LEGO® Toy Pad. Expand the adventure by collecting more minifigures, vehicles, gadgets, and new levels with the purchase of three different types of expansion packs. Use whatever minifigure with whichever vehicle or gadget – go ahead… break the rules!
That is right, not only are you playing the Lego Dimensions video game, but you get to build the Lego pieces for the video game, and I mean in real life! Now how awesome is that?!
Once you have the Starter Pack, you can grow your Lego Dimensions experience through the purchase of additional packs based on the ones you want. The additional packs come in Level Packs, Team Packs, and Fun Packs.
Level Packs at this time are available in 4 different packs. The current Level Packs are: Doctor Who, Portal 2, The Simpsons, and Back to the Future.
There are also Team Packs. There are currently three team packs available: Ninjago, Jurassic World, and Scooby-Doo.
You can also increase your Lego Dimensions fun with the Fun Pack. There are currently 18 different fun packs available: UniKitty, Krusty, Bart, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Emmet, Bad Cop, Benny, Jay, Nya, Zane, Gollum, Legolas, Gimli, Wicked Witch, Laval, Cragger, and Eris.
I so want Wonder Woman! 🙂 She will be added to our Lego Domensions collection next along with the Scooby-Doo Team Pack.
When you get Lego Dimensions, all you need to do is build and play. Yes, you build the Lego portal and characters then they get placed on the toy pad to appear in the video game. You get to build and place the character you want to be on the toy pad to then play as that character in the game.
Lego Dimensions is hours of fun. The characters are appealing to adults and kids as there are some from when I was a kid, to newer characters that are from my Little One’s generation.
The Starter Pack is recommended for ages 7 to 14. I agree that young ones need to be 7 in order to fully enjoy Lego Dimensions on their own. Any younger and parents will have to help out. I think the top end of the age bracket really can be left open ended as I as an adult think Lego Dimensions is pretty awesome and I am sure gamers will be using this game at all ages. I have seen reviews and comments from gamers of all ages who think this is an awesome game.
The reviews across the board are wonderful for Lego Dimensions. I think that this holiday season, that Lego Dimensions is going to be on a lot of Children’s Wish Lists, and it will likely be a hot selling product.
For video games, Lego Dimensions is a step above all the rest in my opinion. It combines the building of Lego that is a timeless favorite with today’s love of video games. If you are purchasing a video game, then consider Lego Dimensions. In my opinion, Lego Dimensions is the must have starter pack for 2015.
