As everyone knows, I absolutely love Educational Insights and their educational toys. The latest educational toy that I got to test out with my family is a game called KaBAM.
“The fastest word-builders win this quick thinking, head-to-head word game. Two players or teams draw cards and set them down next to each other, face up. Each card features word parts including suffixes, prefixes, single vowels, consonants and dipthongs. Be the first to build a word by adding one or more letters to the sets of letters on the cards, and you can win the round.”
This game is rated for ages 7 – 99 years old and has a perfect 5 star rating on their website. It truly is an amazing and fun game.
It is possible to play KaBAM with younger children as long as you slow the pace a little bit and maybe select out the cards that are age appropriate. We were actually able to separate out the cards so that our 4 year old could play. I can tell you that she felt amazingly proud every time she was able to successfully think of a word that had the letter on the card in it. How rewarding is that for a little one.
Our 9 year old loved the game as well. It was great for challenging her to think up great words and I think has been helpful in bringing up her spelling test marks. Since we have had KaBAM, she is thinking about words and spelling more and coincidentally her spelling tests have been almost perfect scores since we have had KaBAM.
I think that KaBAM is a fun way to get your children of all ages to think about words and how to spell them. It is also good for teaching them new words and expanding their vocabulary.
A Big Thank You again to Educational Insights for sponsoring another giveaway for a MomMomOnTheGo fan to win their own KaBAM game.
The contest is open to residents of Canada and the USA who are over the age of 18 years old. The contest will close on November 20th, 2011 at 8:00 pm Pacific Time.
