Mattel Game On – Gameology

November 11, 2013 By MomMomOnTheGo

Gameology

There is something that we love to do in our house and that is a Family Game Night. Our lives are so busy, that when we finally arrange the time for a family game night, we all treasure the moments.

Our most recent family game night was a Mattel Game On Night. What I did was I went to the Mattel Gameology app on Facebook and found out that I was a Wittian. Based on my sign, games were recommended for me.

Here is what MomMomOnTheGo and family played during their Mattel Game On family game night…..

Apples to Apples

The newest way to play APPLES TO APPLES® lets you create your own hilarious comparisons with a roll of the dice. The judge rolls the green die first to declare an adjective that starts with the resulting letter. Then, the judge rolls the red dice, and players race to choose one and say a noun that starts with the letter on the selected die. The judge awards a chip to the noun he or she deems the best comparison which means anything can happen. The first player to earn five chips wins!

Fun for:3-6 players
Ages 7+

Apples to Apples is a new game to our family. I love games that incorporate fun and learning all together. Apples to Apples is a fast paced, fun game for the entire family. If you have younger ones that might not keep up to the speed of the older ones, then I suggest you play the game in teams to make it fun for everyone.

UNO dice

UNO® Dice Game

An exciting new twist on the classic card game! Players start with five dice but must take another die and roll if they can’t play their turn. To win, match colour and number and be the first player to get rid of all your dice, just like the UNO® Card Game! It’s a perfect on-the-go game!

Fun for:2 players
Ages 7+

I have to admit that I have heard of UNO…who hasn’t right?! Okay well I have never ever played UNO. I did not have a UNO card game experience to compare the UNO Dice Game to. I love the UNO Dice Game because my entire family can play this game and have a ton of fun. To me, the UNO Dice Game is one of those games that every generation of your family can enjoy as long as they know their colours and numbers. UNO Dice game is another fast paced and fun game. I also love how easy it is to bring along with you for those out of town trips.

Phase 10

If you love UNO® you’ll love the twist and challenge of Phase 10®! Be the first player to complete 10 varied Phases e.g. two sets of three, one run of seven, seven cards of one colour and more. Here’s the catch: Each Phase must be completed in order. Those who complete the Phase advance to the next, but those that don’t must try again. Be the first to finish them all!

Fun for:2-6 players
Ages 7+

Phase 10 is a great game, but it is likely that you will find that the age ranking is right on for this one. Recommended for ages 7 and older. Have a younger one, then I again recommend you play in teams. Partner the Little One with an adult if they are 6 years old and then the Little One can enjoy Phase 10 along with the rest of the family.

I found that the above three Mattel Games were great games for intertwining a fun family game night with sneaking in some educational aspects. I love when I see my kids learning and having fun all at the same time, especially when they do not even realize that they are learning.

Balderdash

The fun of Balderdash®, the classic bluffing game, continues! Contains 336 clues, 5 different categories, game board, game movers, score pad and die.

Fun for:2-6 players
Ages 12+

I love Balderdash. Personally, I love games that include bluffing as it makes for a fun and hilarious time. For Balderdash, adults will love the game and kids will need to be a bit older to be able to play. Recommended age is 12 and older and I agree with that age ranking. Balderdash is a lot of fun, laughs and is a great family and friends night game.

ANGRY_space

Angry Birds™ Space

Build, blast and lift off with an exciting skill-and-action game based on the best-selling digital app Angry Birds™ in Space. The egg-stealing pigs are out of this world, and the Angry Birds™ have followed to get their revenge! Players draw a space mission card and build the structure shown before their opponents launch an Angry Bird in an attempt to knock it-and the pigs-down to win points. Break open the pig’s helmet for a bonus!

Fun for:2-4 players
Ages 5+

Angry Birds Space is amazing. The grandparents might not appreciate the game to is fullest, but they will surely love watching the excitement in the grand kids. My Little One was so excited about Angry Birds Space. Based on the ever so popular and viral game that can be found on almost every tablet, iPod or Smartphone out there, this game gets your kids off their electronic device and playing games the “old fashion” way. 🙂 I love that for sure!

Angry Birds Space had my family cheering and excited, fueled from the energy and excitement of the kids. You have to check out this video we made of our family game night and see the excitement for Angry Birds Space.
