A Vancouver Christmas Tradition

A Vancouver Christmas Tradition

November 29, 2019 By MomMomOnTheGo

With FlyOver Canada & the Vancouver Christmas Market

My gang has been bundling up and heading down to the Vancouver Christmas Market and the special FlyOver Canada Christmas show for years now. We have had this tradition for so long that I remember when the Vancouver Christmas Market was over by the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

Last night as we walked around the Vancouver Christmas Market and I suddenly saw the 10th-anniversary mugs, I realized just how much of a tradition this night out, at these two attractions has become. So through my photos, I went this morning to find a then and now of my not so little, Little One on the Vancouver Christmas Market Carousel…

I love that the Vancouver Christmas Market relocated a few years back to Jack Poole Plaza as it puts it within walking distance to FlyOver Canada that is at Canada Place.

As tradition has it for us, we started our evening last night at FlyOver Canada. While the FlyOver Canada experience traditionally starts with the Pursuit video experience, in the main entry room that guests are brought into, at Christmas, the Pursuit show is changed to a message from a couple of Santa’s elves. The message from the elves is perfect for the little elves in the audience as could be seen by their eyes glued to the screen in awe of the message, video, and setting that surrounded them.

Once the video is played, guests move on to the area where boarding for the FlyOver Canada experience happens. After a few flight rules, you are taken to your seats. We have been lucky enough to experience the flight on all three levels at various times and any level is great.

After your senses are teased and triggered with the FlyOver Canada regular show, with the addition of a few elves here and there, you then go on a short but wonderful flight over the North Pole with more elves, Santa and his reindeer, polar bears sliding down a hill, snowballs flying, and more…

FlyOver Canada, the Christmas edition, is our favorite version of the show and if you get one chance to get to this attraction, I recommend to head on down at Christmas time. The Christmas version of FlyOver Canada is running until January 5th, 2020 for this holiday season.

Once our FlyOver Canada experience was over, we headed to Jack Poole Plaza and the Vancouver Christmas Market which is only a few minutes away walking.

As with every year, my Little One had her favorite food booths she wanted to get to which included the pretzels, churros, and chocolate-covered strawberries and cream puffs. I had to make a pit stop over at the Pork Hock booth to get one to bring home for my dad.

There are what seems to be an endless number of vendors offering amazing products and food. I am always pleasantly surprised at how many vendors the Vancouver Christmas Market fits into the Jack Poole Plaza area.

After a number of carousel rides, exploring the various vendors, with a few purchases in hand, and admiring the numerous food options rendering our bellies more than stuffed with sweets and treats, our evening came to an end. Satisfied with all we had seen, tasted, and taken memorable photos of, we had fulfilled a holiday tradition and built upon our memories.

We recommend that you head on down to FlyOver Canada and the Vancouver Christmas Market this season.
