I remember a few books from my childhood that stuck with me. The ones I remember are those that tapped into what excited me as a child. Barron’s obviously knows that kids tend to love animals and they have created a wonderful Animal Series that helps to engage kids in reading and an intriguing story while providing interesting characters that kids will love and connect with.
MomMomOnTheGo recently had the opportunity to explore the Barron’s Awesome Animal Adventure Series with her Little One. My middle one was also quite intrigued by the Barron’s Awesome Animal Adventure Series and was sure to plan which order she would read them in based on in which order we were reading the series.
What we love about the Barron’s Awesome Animal Adventure Series is that the stories are about animals that are not your every day cat, dog or bunny. There seems to be a lot of stories about cats, dogs and bunnies. Barron’s made their animal series about Penguins, Pandas, Meerkats, and Raccoons. As soon as my Little One saw the type of animals that the stories were about, she was very excited to have us read the books. My Little One really LOVES Penguins so that is the book that we started with.
In Penguin Pandemonium, the whole Zoo is in an uproar as the visitors are not coming anymore and the Zoo is at risk of being shut down. The two main characters Rory and Little Blue, are worried about a possible move and if it will separate them. So a talent show seems to be the best way to solve the problem. Of course the adventure to realize a talent show starts the laughs for the reader.
Of course the story would not be complete unless there was a character to clash with and Muriel brings on the great laughs with her attitude and great sayings.
Penguin Pandemonium also brings an educational factor to the story with the presentation of different types of penguins such as: Rockhopper, Fairy, Emperor, and Chinstrap.
Panda Panic is a story about the adventures of a restless, bored and zany Panda named Ping who lives at the ever so tranquil Wolagong Nature Reserve. Ping is tired of the tranquil life and tries to get some excitement going on, but everyone knows what he is up to and does not believe him.
Ping gets his heart set on exploring the world and Ping will do just about anything to get this dream realized. Ping tries everything imaginable to help make life more exciting, but ends up visiting the vet more than anything else.
Panda Panic provides an adventure for your little one to experience with Ping.
The Hole-In-the-Tree gang are a group of mischievous raccoons that tend to cause trouble every where they go in Raccoon Rampage. The story gets even more exciting and mischievous when they are off to the Big City.
Kids are sure to love the four little raccoons in Raccoon Rampage.
In Meerkat Madness we follow the adventure of three motherless Meerkat Pups named; Skeema, Little Dream, and Mimi and their desire to prove that Uncle Fearless was really a king and that all the stories he tells are the truth. With other characters such as blah blahs and oolooks and their vroom vrooms, you can imagine that it is quite the adventure.
Will the three Meerkat Pups prove that the glory days that Uncle Fearless recounts for them did in fact occur? Your little one will be sure to enjoy setting out on the adventure that Skeema, Little Dream and Mimi set out on.
All the Barron’s Awesome Animal Adventures Series books are entertaining, cute and bring a smile and laugh to the readers. Your little one will be cheering for the main characters, animals and wanting to know how everything turns out.
They are wonderful books to read with your kids and for your kids to enjoy on their own. My girls are ages 6 and 11 and they both enjoy the series.
