My Little One, who is 7 years old, always has a ton of questions about herself and her body. How do our eyes work? Why do I dream? I could really go on and on with the list of questions here.
If you want a fun way to get all your Little One’s questions about themselves answered, then I recommend that you check out Barron’s The Ultimate Book About Me.
“Discover What Makes You ‘YOU!’
Reality TV, constant status updates, endless “selfies,” and publicly posted videos that document everything from first steps to falling flat on your face…today’s kids are growing up with a very unique sense of self. This book challenges kids to ask themselves the question, What does it mean to be me?, and gives them the scientific and sociological tools to really explore the answers. Using a playful approach that incorporates visual puzzles, quizzes, memory tests, and other fun tactics, The Ultimate Book About Me delves into the real facts behind deeply engaging questions like:
Am I really unique?
How well do I know my body?
What does it mean to be a boy or a girl?
How do I remember things?
How much of me will survive beyond my lifetime?
Tons of colorful graphics help convey the subject matter (from the inner workings of the brain to hormones and genetics) in a kid-friendly format. A glossary provides deeper understanding. Full-color illustrations throughout. (Ages 9 and older)
From the Reviews:
“Richard Platt takes the subject of being human and breaks it down into understandable and intriguing text and combines that with imagery and interactive pages kids can relate to. This unique book will get kids’ brains reeling as they come to comprehend more about what makes them unique from a scientific standpoint. This book covers important material kids won’t likely learn in school.”
The Ultimate Book About Me is recommended for ages 9 and older as per Barron’s. I felt that the book was perfect for my 7 year old, soon to be 8 year old daughter. It is a great book to read together and explore everything about our bodies and how things work. In the end, I think that children as young as 6 would enjoy reading the book with a parent and exploring some of the answers to their questions.
The illustrations in The Ultimate Book About Me are awesome. The book is very colorful and the illustrations help to show exactly what is being talked about and explained.
There are so many sections to The Ultimate Book About Me such as sections that cover:
*Boy or Girl
Within each of the listed sections, there are numerous questions relating to those topics that are explored and answered.
In total, The Ultimate Book About Me has 143 pages of information and answers to questions about ourselves.
A very fun part of The Ultimate Book About Me are the quizzes located throughout the book. It is fun to take the quizzes together and then to see the answers on the next page.
