Best Ways to Travel This Summer

August 4, 2023 By MomMomOnTheGo

Summer is a huge travel season and also one of the most expensive periods to travel. Travel has become expensive and since the pandemic, everybody is willing to step out of their homes and explore a new destination. Revenge travel was a rage and this led to a massive surge in airfare and hotel tariffs. Even now, travel is expensive, but it is possible to save money by traveling during the off-season or paying for travel using rewards. You could also look for an affordable destination or fly a low-cost airline and budget ahead of time for the expenses. Let’s look at the different ways you can travel this summer within your budget.

Look for an affordable destination

The best way to travel is to look for a cheaper holiday destination. You will be aware that some cities are simply expensive like Dubai, New York, or Paris, and if you want to visit them, it will become difficult to stick to the tight budget. But there are several affordable cities including Mexico, Vietnam, Romania, Colombia, Thailand, and Spain. There are many others you can consider. Look for a region you want to visit first, and then look for the affordable options in the area.

Use public transportation, walk or bike

It can become expensive to rent a car or taxi all the time. Even using rideshares could become expensive. This is why you must look for alternative methods of transportation, and if you are going somewhere within walking distance, you can go on foot and explore the area. You can easily rent a bike in several cities and explore the destination. If you do not want to ride a bike, use public transportation, which can be fun and convenient. Several cities have a solid rail system, and you can go from one place to another in no time.

Plan your travel mid-week

This is a travel hack followed by many. If you book travel during the week instead of on the weekends, it will help you get better deals. Look for flights departing on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, and you will see that they are much cheaper than weekend departures. You can also get lower prices if you are ready to fly in the early morning.

Use travel rewards

The best way to save money is by paying through miles and points wherever you can. It is possible to earn them through airline or hotel loyalty programs and if you are a frequent flyer, you could benefit from the airline offers. You earn rewards on your travel and stay and you can use them on your next trip. It is possible to save thousands of dollars if you have travel credit cards.

Look for deals

If you are ready to go anywhere, pick a destination based on the best deals you are getting. Start looking for flights first and then look for stay options. Several sites allow you to enter your home airport and then look for destinations based on the flight rates. You can now check the flight prices for different routes. It is a good way to look at all the options and see where and how can you go without spending a lot of money. Now for the accommodation, look for deals that help reduce the cost of stay or meals. You can also look for vacation rentals as they are more affordably priced as compared to hotels. Outer Banks vacation rentals offer the right combination of comfort and luxury if you plan to travel with your family.

Look for low-cost activities

Several activities may interest you on your trip, and travel expenses could quickly add up if you spend a lot of money on such activities regularly. But every city will have a lot of free and low-cost things to do. You can visit parks or plan hiking trails, head to the free museums or galleries, and explore the interesting neighborhood through a walking tour. You can also watch a show at an independent theatre, or explore the local architecture. There is so much to do and explore without having to spend a lot of money.

Stick to the budget

To be careful about the money you spend when traveling, you must prepare a budget and stick to it. It is easy to overspend when you do not have a budget and if you are not tracking your travel expenses. Hence, start by making a budget and figure out how much you want to spend on the trip. Then decide the activities you want to include and the amount you can afford to spend each day. Keep track of the spending and avoid the temptation of overspending.

While several people think travel is costly, it need not be if you can plan well. Keep these tried and tested tips in mind and plan your next adventure.
