School is almost out and summer is just around the corner. One of the most important things on a parent’s mind as we move to this time of year is……how are we going to keep the kids busy and active all summer long. I know it is the biggest thought on my mind.
This year I figured out how to keep my kids off the couch and being active…..enter our Bestway Steel Pro Frame Pool. 14 feet in diameter and 48 inches deep so it is the absolute perfect size for our yard and all ages.. Our Bestway pool keeps my kids active, and not only is it great for when they have friends over, but it is wonderful family time.
A Bestway Steel Pro Frame Pool is an investment in my home, my kids, and my family. Our Bestway Steel Pro Frame Pool is the best thing that has ever happened to our backyard.

The Bestway Steel Pro Frame Pools stand out above the competition and here is a great video from Bestway that shows the durability of their pool…
Getting our Bestway Steel Pro Frame Pool up was an entire family adventure. We first had to get the ground ready with no grass underneath and the area level. This is the biggest part of the job. You need to make sure that your water will sit level in your pool once it is up. You also have to make sure that there are no sticks or rocks under where the pool will sit. It is best to take the grass out so that you do not have grass rotting under the pool.
We cleared out the grass, leveled the ground, and put the ground cover down. Next we put the pool out to sit in the sun when we finally had a sunny day. The pool is a very durable material and by letting it sit out in the sun for at least an hour makes it a lot easier to put it up.
Putting the pool up probably took us only about 20 minutes. It is a snap to put up. Putting the ladder together is easy as well and actually probably took me longer than it took us to get the pool up.
I loved that Bestway had easy to follow video tutorials for putting the pool up. I did watch the videos before I put the pool up and I felt like a pro and ready to get the job done once I had seen their videos.
Once the pool is up, you need to fill it with a few inches of water and smooth the bottom out with your feet. This is a fun task for the kids and it is exciting to get in there with the first bit of water.
Filling the pool probably took us about 7 hours with one garden hose going into it. Then you just need to take care of the water and treating it, which I have found to be very simple.
To make everything look finished on our wonderful Bestway Steel Pro Frame Pool, I put smooth river rock around the exterior. Our backyard looks amazing and the pool is so perfect.
So what do you need that you do not get in the box…
*Water treatment products.
*Cleaning kit such as a skimmer.
*Thermometer if you want to know the temperature of the water.
If you want the pool heated then you need to purchase a heater. We opt for the sun to be our natural heater and it is working out just fine.
I know some people shy away from pools because they are worried about the complexity of making the water safe and chlorinated. I can personally tell you that it has been really easy to look after the water and get it treated to the right levels for use. It takes only a few minutes of my time here and there and the enjoyment the kids get out of our pool is more than worth the investment in time and money.
As a tip, I found a great all in one pool water treatment kit at our local Home Depot for less than $25 and it will last me all summer long easily and it is everything I have needed to get the pool right. Everything in this kit is also the right tablet size for the smaller above ground pools such as my Bestway Steel Pro Frame Pool.
There are a number of other water treatment options as well with ozonators, chlorinators, and sand filters. You can investigate all these options on the Bestway website as well. The chlorinator intrigues me and is something that I would like to check out next for our pool.
Putting the Bestway Steel Pro Frame Pool in our backyard has been the best investment that we have ever made for our family. We have had countless days of family fun time with generations in our pool.
We are building life long memories for our family and it the overall cost to get the pool up from start to finish is less than the cost of a one week vacation that we typically take. Best of all the pool is there every day, ready for use, and no one seems to ever get bored of having a pool! It is the best thing ever.
I know from the love my kids have already shown for our pool, that this summer I will not hear…”I am bored.” I know that my kids will be spending endless hours and days in our pool with family and friends. They might forget what a TV is! 🙂
