I absolutely love Christmas time. I love the Christmas carols, the occasional snow storm that we get in the Lower Mainland of BC, I love fires that we sit by to keep warm, I love decorating, but most of all; I love that family gets together.
There is nothing more important to me than family and at Christmas, family gets together. It is something that I look forward to every year.
I am always excited, impatiently waiting until it is considered not too early to start decorating. In Canada, I feel that it is okay to decorate as soon as Remembrance Day has passed. Our Thanksgiving is in October, so once we have shown our respect on Remembrance Day, there is absolutely no other holiday between it and Christmas. To me, that means starting November 12th Christmas decorations can start going up.
We have a lot of traditions we have created over the years.
We always do a gingerbread house.
We always decorate inside with out tree of course, but we also love to decorate outside as well.
We have our Elf that comes to visit every year. We go get a picture with Santa. Santa always sends a letter with reindeer food to leave out on Christmas Eve.
My favorite things though are all the family events and outings. One of the family outings we always do is the tour of all the other houses with awesome Christmas light displays.
Now that is one decorated house that we always love to go visit. It is so much fun to go see all the decorations as a family and get a little hot chocolate to keep us warm.
