Why do physicians recommend humidifiers?
Humidifiers help moisten nasal passages and soothe dry coughs so a child can breathe easier and sleep peacefully through the night. In 2008 FDA issued advisory warning that Over the Counter (OTC) cold and cough medicine NOT BE GIVEN to children under the age of 6. Cool mist does not boil water like warm mist. Cool mist is recommended for Croup.

EMPTY WATER BASIN DAILY. Disinfect weekly with 4 capfuls of white vinegar and 4 cups of water solution. Shake water tank and let sit for 30 minutes, rinse. Place vinegar water solution also in water basin.
I cannot even tell you how many times I have taken my kids to the doctor only for them to tell me to use a cool mist humidifier. I have also been told to use one when I have had chronic sinus infections and I can personally tell you that it helped me a lot. I love humidifiers and we use them regularly.
It is always tough to decide which humidifier to buy. There are so many different brands and shapes, but I can tell you we recently fell in love with an awesome Crane humidifier.
We have the Hello Kitty Crane humidifier and LOVE it. It is so awesome to have a cute character, animal or shape as a humidifier for your little one. I think that the fact that a humidifier is a cute little character can be even more comforting for kids. My little one has always loved her character and animal humidifiers.
