Please welcome MomMomOnTheGo’s Toronto Correspondent, Fern, who attended the Toronto Disney On Ice Worlds of Fantasy last night in order to bring you this review.
I was quite excited to learn that this Disney on Ice – Worlds of Fantasy had something for both girls and boys as I have a 5 year old daughter, and 7 1/2 year old son and the show did not disappoint.
After a fun introduction from Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy the Car’s cast performed. The cars looked just as they do in the movie and were actually Car’s on ice! It was really neat and probably the highlight of the show for me. It was not a long number however, no more then 10 minutes and my son kept thinking they would return which they did not! I can see how it would be hard to have a longer number especially when you are manipulating big vehicles on the ice.
Next up was Ariel. The under the sea number was great especially when all the sea animals danced with Ariel, and bubbles were added for special effects to enhance all the excitement.
Pixie Hollow began with the queen being suspended from the sky. It was quite a literal interpretation of the story. The end sequence was quite beautifully performed with the additon of pole mounted butterflies, parasols and when the inflatable flowers popped all around. This was my daughters favorite part of the performance.
The evening ended with Toy Story. The green army number certainly got the audience involved and the toy story characters coming to life stole the show!
There were some technical errors which may have been opening night jitters, a few falls, drops, and trips, however this did not seem to bother the children at all. Overall my family and I really enjoyed the show. They did a good job this year of entertaining both girls and boys which I hope they continue to do.
