Eyes Cream Shades Review & Giveaway

March 12, 2012 By MomMomOnTheGo

I don’t know about your little ones, but all of mine love sunglasses. I think that we have a pair for every car, purse, bad and then some. I have always looked at the specs on the specs 🙂 when I have bought sunglasses as I have always wanted to make sure I was getting my girls ones that truly offered protection for their eyes. More recently though, I have questioned how much protection sunglasses are offering, especially ever since I came across Eyes Cream Shades.

Here is what Eyes Cream Shades says about store bought sunglasses versus their sunglasses.

I’ve seen cheap kids sunglasses at the grocery store and sporting events. Why should I pay more for a pair of kids sunglasses?

Cheap sunglasses have several disadvantages: 1) They are made with cheap plastics that easily break, 2) They tend to be heavier and thicker which can cause discomfort and fatigue during prolonged use and 3) They rarely provide 100% UVA and UVB protection.

Eyes Cream Shades sunglasses are made with high-quality materials that are durable as well as comfortable. All of our lenses provide 100% UVA & UVB protection, and all lenses are polycarbonate, making them shatter-resistant.

It has also been shown that cheap, plastic lenses can actually cause more damage to the eye than not wearing sunglasses at all. You can save some money buying cheap sunglasses, but your children’s eyes will ultimately pay the price.

Parents need to be wary of sunglasses that say “block UV” or “provides UV protection” without specifying exactly what percentage of UV rays the product blocks. Surprisingly enough, some of the substandard sunglasses for kids have hang tags that read, “not intended for use in the sun.” So hang tags need to be read carefully as well, when deciding whether to purchase a pair of sunglasses for your child.

Eyes Cream shades are also made of polycarbonate lenses. Why is this important?

Most, if not all, eye care professionals recommend that children wear sunglasses with polycarbonate lenses. Polycarbonate lenses are “10 times more impact-resistant than glass or regular plastic lenses, and they exceed the FDA’s impact resistance requirement by over 40 times.”

I got to try play around with a pair of Eyes Cream Shades child sunglasses and I do find them more durable than the typical in store sunglasses. My little one liked the pair that we got because they are pink and purple, but it is still hard to entice her away from Hello Kitty or Princess sunglasses that you find at the local store.

Standard Eyes Cream Shades Features
Polycarbonate Lenses (Thinner and lighter than regular plastic lenses and shatter resistant).
100% UVA and UVB protection against harmful ultraviolet sunlight.

As a mom, I really want my little one wearing a pair of Eyes Cream Shades because of the quality of the product. It makes me feel like her eyes are protected by a quality made pair of sunglasses. I also find that the Eyes Cream Shades do not break as easily as the typical store bought sunglasses. We still have this first pair of Eyes Cream Shades, while the others have broken and ended up in the garbage already.

How long the Eyes Cream Shades lasts is an important feature because at $39.95 a pair, they have to last a lot longer at that price point. Although I do have to point out that they are not indestructible. You cannot be reckless with them.
