With Halloween fast approaching I am on a hunt for awesome recipes for the Halloween party that we will be having. Whether you are having your own Halloween party or want some great recipe ideas for your family here are some great ideas and they are all using Kellogg’s products.
INGREDIENTS
50 mL or 1/4 cup margarine or butter
250 g or 1 pkg (about 40) regular marshmallows or 5 cups miniature
1.5 L or 6 cups Rice Krispies* cereal
2 mL or 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Candies, licorice or frostingDIRECTIONS
Regular Method
In large microwave safe bowl, melt margarine and marshmallows on HIGH for about 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute. Stir mixture until smooth.
Add vanilla and KELLOGG’S* RICE KRISPIES* cereal, stirring until well coated. Allow to cool.
Shape half cups of mixture into balls. Create eyes, nose, ears and whiskers with candies, licorice, or frosting. Best if served same day.
Stove Top Method
Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Follow steps 2 and 3 above.

Food colouring, prepared frosting, candy corn, candy-coated gum
string licorice, coloured shredded coconutDIRECTIONS
In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt margarine or butter and marshmallows in a microwave set on HIGH for 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute. Add a few drops of food colouring and stir mixture until smooth.
Add KELLOGG’S* RICE KRISPIES* cereal, stirring until well coated. Let cereal mixture cool slightly until it is safe to touch. With buttered hands, shape cereal mixture into spider shapes and place on waxed paper. Allow to cool.
Decorate spiders using candy corn for eyes, candy-coated gum for teeth, licorice for web and coloured coconut for hair. Attach decorations with frosting. Tip: colour coconut by soaking in warm water with a few drops of food colouring for about 30 minutes. Dry coconut on paper towels before using.
NOTES: **Also equals 1.25 L (5 cups) of miniature marshmallows.

Orange tinted coconut

Jellied orange slices

In large microwave safe bowl, melt margarine, one cup of chocolate chips, and marshmallows on HIGH for about 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute.
Stir vanilla into mixture until smooth. Add KELLOGG’S* RICE KRISPIES* cereal, stirring until well coated.
To form the brim of the witch’s hat, pour two cups of the mixture into a 15 cm circle and press to flatten. Place on a 12.5 cm cardboard base. Form the remaining mixture into the pointy part of the hat, 10 cm wide at the base and 15 cm tall. Place crown on brim, securing with toothpicks. Sprinkle brim with orange tinted coconut, and decorate crown with jellied oranges sliced lengthwise in two and candy corn, secured with prepared icing.In keeping with good allergy practices, we remind you to be aware of allergens and to check labels on any packaged goods used.
