Twister has turned 50! Yep that is right, that wonderful get yourself all tied up in a know game is now half a century old.
I remember playing and loving Twister as a kid. The memories bring back smiles on my face as I sit here typing about the game. π
I also remembered being a little more flexible and nimble when I played as compared to now! Help I am stuck! LOL.
Well the Retro Twister game and the NEW Twister game recently made their way into our household for family game night. My Little One said, Twister, what is that? I almost had a heart attack. How on Earth could my Little One be 9 years old and I have neglected to enlighten her life with the joys of Twister?! I was ashamed of myself to be honest.
So out went the Retro Twister, so I could show my Little One the game we all played as a kid….ummm…not so long ago! π
The Retro Twister game is just as I remember it. You spin, it tells you where to put your hands and feet, and you try to not fall. I used to be awesome at this game. Now, I am awesome at falling. My Little One rocks at the game and loves to purposely get herself all tied up in a knot. Oh the giggles we had playing. I am denying any and all sore muscles the next day for me.
The classic Twister game still looks cool and retro….
The mat is a little larger in the classic Twister than the new Twister. The spinner has a few new moves in the new version of Twister. With the New Twister their is a place your hand/foot in the air and a spinner’s choice. Spinner’s choice can make the game very interesting. The in the air option can be very interesting especially if you end up with being told to put both feet in the air. Yep, let me work on that pose. π
Here is the look of the new Twister mat as compared to the retro Twister mat above. The new Twister mat has some grey splatters on it.
In our house, we all get into family game night. We even got a little creative with our dedicated spinner….
I really loved sharing Twister with my Little One. I know that it is a game that will come out time and time again, just like it did when I was a kid. What is so awesome about Twister is that it is timeless fun. I know that this is a game that my Little One will open up one day and say to her kids, let me show you this awesome game that I used to play with grandma. π
I have no idea which Twister I love more as we had a ton of fun playing both. I liked the classic because it was retro and reminded me of being a kid. I also have to say that I liked the twists the 2 new moves add to the New Twister. Either way, whichever version you have or get, I am sure that you will all be twisted, knotted, gigging, and building great family game night memories.
With the new Twister hitting stores, and the classic, retro Twister getting hard to find, I am excited to announce a giveaway of one retro Twister game.
This giveaway is open to residents of Canada over the age of 18 and where permitted by local laws to enter and win giveaways. Please ensure that you read the full terms and conditions found at the bottom of the entry form.
