MomMomOnTheGo and gang had a great evening at the Honda Celebration of Light with fireworks by Team Mexico.
The Honda Celebration of Light is a world-renowned fireworks competition that takes place annually during the summer in Vancouver. It’s a multi-day event featuring awe-inspiring pyrotechnics displays by different countries, each trying to outdo the others with their unique and artistic fireworks show. This year Australia, Mexico and the Philippines compete for the best in show.
One of the best things about the Honda Celebration of Light is that it’s free to watch from public viewing areas like English Bay Beach, Kitsilano Beach, and Vanier Park. However, you can upgrade your evening’s experience at one of the paid venues: Concord Pacific Grandstand, Scotiabank Lounge, Inukshuk Point and the Concord Pacific Patio. These venues offer some of the best views of the fireworks and offer music, the fireworks soundtrack, washroom facilities and access to a bar. Check out the paid venues.
This year we enjoyed the fireworks at Inukshuk Point, one of the paid venues. It was an amazing spot to spend the evening! Inukshuk Point is located at the Inukshuk peninsula overlooking English Bay. It is the closest viewing position to the fireworks display. Tickets include: general admission seating at one of the many white table cloth lined tables, dinner (vegetarian dish available) & dessert plus two beverages (both alcoholic or non alcoholic), fireworks music, VIP washroom facilities….and a great atmosphere!
Best Places to Watch the Fireworks
English Bay Beach: This is the main viewing area and provides an unobstructed view of the fireworks over the water. Arrive early to claim your spot on the beach.
Vanier Park: Located on the south side of False Creek, Vanier Park offers a fantastic vantage point to watch the fireworks with the city’s skyline as a backdrop.
Kitsilano Beach: If you prefer a more laid-back and family-friendly setting, Kitsilano Beach is an excellent choice. The view may be slightly less direct, but the relaxed atmosphere makes up for it.
Burrard Bridge: For a unique perspective, you can watch the fireworks from Burrard Bridge. It’s a bit further away, but the view of the entire city skyline is worth it.
Plan Ahead
If you are heading down to the fireworks make sure you plan ahead.
Arrive Early: This is a popular event, so plan to arrive early to secure a good spot for your family. You can set up a cozy picnic blanket, bring some snacks, and enjoy a mini-family picnic before the fireworks begin.
Transportation: Since the event attracts large crowds, it’s best to plan your transportation ahead of time. Consider taking public transit or cycling to avoid parking hassles.
Be Patient During Traffic: After the show, be prepared for heavy traffic as everyone heads home.
Entertainment and Food: There’s so much more than just fireworks! The Honda Celebration of Light offers live music, food trucks, and various entertainment options for the whole family. It’s a festival-like atmosphere that everyone will enjoy.
