Kids tend to go through phases in life where they have bouts of anxiety, stress, feeling sad…..well all emotions that we all feel. After all their brains are working over time learning and processing everything in the world.
Over the last year, we have had a lot to process as we have lost a cat and three dogs. They were all getting really old and it was just their time, but that does not make it any easier for any of us, especially a Little One that is experiencing the emotions related to loss for the first time.
We talked about our animals, their lives, the loss of them and how that made us feel, but with so many passing in such a short time, my Little One was having a bit of trouble processing everything. The sad emotions were lingering and sneaking back in to her thoughts at times where she was not with me.
Naturally, she also started to think about what ifs…….such as what if something happened to MomMom (me).
I could see the anxiety and stress within my Little One so I naturally turned to resources to assist her with processing all her thoughts and feelings. She sees someone that she can chat with to help guide her.
One of the first things that was recommended to me was the book Imaginations by Carolyn Clarke as an in home resource to help my Little One relax. So off I went to check out Carolyn Clarke and her book, Imaginations.
Carolyn Clarke, FounderCarolyn Clarke founded Bambino Yoga to bring yoga to the millions of children who would benefit from learning to relax their mind and imagine new worlds.
Carolyn Clarke has been teaching yoga to children since 2002 and training adults since 2007. She has completed certifications with YogaKids International, Next Generation Yoga, and Erich Schiffmann. She is an award-winning author of children’s guided imagery books, including Imaginations: Fun Relaxation Stories and Meditations for Kids. Carolyn has been personally practicing yoga since 1994. She is a second generation yoga instructor who studied initially with her mother, Laurie Clarke, Certified Yoga Teacher in Charleston, SC. She has practiced a wide range of yoga styles, and she uses this varied background to inspire children to discover the joys of yoga. By combining her yoga knowledge, her sense of humor, and her love for children, Carolyn provides kids with a fun and educational yoga experience!
This book provides stories to help children learn to calm their bodies and relax their minds. Wildly imaginative and whimsically joyful, Carolyn Clarke’s guide is a wonderful tool for children to learn that the most important spaces in life are often the quiet moments in between. The stories and illustrations contained in this volume help children learn to calm themselves and release the tension of their lives in a positive, healing manner. A child’s ability to consciously relax their body and clear their mind can help address a myriad of issues, such as anxiety, stress, and excessive worry; sleep disorders, nightmares, and fear of the dark at bedtime; anger issues; focus and concentration issues; special needs, including ADD, ADHD, Aspergers, autism, and OCD; depression; low self-esteem; grief; and life changes such as moving, divorce, or changing schools.
Opening up worlds and universes with evocative stories and vivid details that simultaneously calm the mind, body and spirit, Clarke’s debut is an extraordinary aid to help children not only tap into their inner calm, but to expand their imagination to its outer limits—and beyond. Intended as a tool to use with the children in your life, it is so much more: it is a skill that they can use for the rest of their lives to improve, enhance, and maximize their quality of life. Unlike any other book of its kind, Imaginations: Fun Relaxation Stories and Meditations for Kids is the greatest gift you can give your child.
Carolyn Clarke has created an anthology of amazing relaxation stories that require your child to use and engage their imagination. We absolutely adore these stories and they are so helpful for learning to relax your entire body and to engage your imagination so that it is busy thinking about something other than the stresses that are on your mind.
In my opinion, Imaginations is a must have book for all families as it is provides great stories that help you relax whether it is for everyday use, or to help when times are tough and there are bumps int hat road that little ones are trying to deal with.
My Little One’s favorite story in Imaginations is called Finger Lights. It is a wonderful relaxation story of imagining colorful lights that end up coming out of your fingertips and that you can therefore draw with. It is a wonderful story that leaves you feeling relaxed and tapping into your imagination.
The stories are so appealing to my Little One that she wrote her own relaxation story and created her own book with her story in it, pictures and all. Every night we read her story and an Imaginations story to relax, just before we head off to bed.
You can purchase Carolyn Clarke’s Imaginations book through her website or on Amazon USA and Amazon Canada.
I highly recommend that you check out Imaginations. I think it is a must have book in every household.
