I love reviewing new products and especially ones that tap into things kids love to do. With Little Live – Scruff a Luvs, kids get to open a package to a ball of fur, wash, dry, and style the hair of their new little friend to see which Scruff A Luv they have.
There are some tips and tricks to getting that Scruff a Luv going from a scruffy rescue to a well-loved friend…but first check out this video…
There are three Scruff a Luv pets available: a puppy, a kitten, and a bunny. When you first open your Scruff a Luv it looks like a ball of fur.

Once open you need to give your new furry friend a bath. You can even give them a bath with some kids shampoo. Next you have to ring out your clean friend to get all the excess water out so that you can get your new pal dry all the way through. Once rung out, you towel dry your Scruff A Luv and at this point they are looking pretty scruffy so you want to get them looking fluffy. There are a couple of ways to get them looking fluffy and that can be with a hair dryer, or even throwing them in the dryer. Kids will undoubtedly like to give them a blow dry with the hair dryer as that is part of the fun. As a parent, if you want to make sure that they are dry throughout and get them that extra fluffy, I recommend a few minutes in the dryer.
Once your new buddy is all dry, it is time to style them up.

Each Scruff A Luv comes with their own styling brush, but my biggest tip here is to use a real brush to help get them styled and fluffy. They also come with one hair clip and a collar.
Once you have styled your Scruff A Luv they will come out clean and a lot fluffier than when they first arrived.

Scruff A Luvs tap into a lot that from my experience kids like:
- A new furry friend
- Washing something so playing in the
water with a toy - Drying something with a hair dryer
- Styling something through brushing and hair styling
The combination above makes Scruff A Luvs a pretty awesome product, so it surprises me that I have read a few bad reviews. The bad reviews that I have read tend to surround the pet still looking scruffy. If you are having that problem with your pet still looking scruffy, then throw them in the dryer for a few minutes. I would guess that a scruffy pet is that way from not getting all the moisture out of the pet before trying to style them. If you leave moisture in the Scruff A Luv, he will be really hard to style and the moisture will keep seeping out. Plus, you just do not want moisture left in the toy so I cannot express enough to just throw them in the dryer for a few minutes.
I also recommend that if you want them coming out smoother, put a wee bit of conditioner on them when washing them. It will make their fur easier to brush and make them look better.
This little pet is something that I can see ending up in the bath tub or even running through the sprinkler. I think kids will love that their furry friend is allowed to get wet. I highly recommend that you do not leave them wet though. After play time, make sure to get them dry.
If you are looking for a place to check out Scruff A Luvs, you can find them in store at Canadian Tire, Walmart, and Toys R US.
