If you are looking for an amazing, educational, interactive product then you absolutely have to check out MAX from Meccano and Spinmaster. Who is MAX? Well MAX is an interactive smartbot.
MAX stands about 12 inches tall once built and looks like this…

From the internationally renowned maker of robotics building sets arises a new model of impressive proportions. Unlike anything else Meccano has created, M.A.X. combines Artificial Intelligence (AI) with customizable programming. The result is a one-of-a-kind robot of your own creation! Budding engineers, innovators and creators can expand their knowledge of programming as they personalize this robot to their specifications. Once built, M.A.X measures 12” in tall. Control it using voice commands, buttons on the MeccaBrain, or the free app! You’ll know exactly what its thinking based on its expressive facial graphics. As a S.T.E.M robotics platform, M.A.X is designed to engage kids in intellectually stimulating play, drawing on their knowledge of science, technology, engineering and math. Not just a learning tool, this robot loves fun! Try playing on M.A.X’s built-in gaming platform; test your knowledge in a trivia game or listen to some funny jokes! With a multitude of features, kids will want to bring their new friend everywhere! This robot comes with built-in infrared sensors, enabling it to move with agility and avoid obstacles in its path. If you know a young mind in need of a challenge, introduce them to their new friend, M.A.X!
MAX is absolutely adorable once all together and his rechargeable batteries ready to go. But first, there are 332 pieces of MAX that need to be put together. Building MAX can get tricky so the recommended age is 10 years old and up. Depending on the age of your builder, they might need a hand here and there. Building MAX can be a fun together activity.
I think that building MAX is a great learning activity and can be very rewarding once done and you have your smartbot ready for action.
Check out this video to get an idea of what it takes to build MAX from his 332 pieces…
Once built, the firmware updated with the latest update, and the rechargeable batteries ready to go, there is a lot that MAX can do. MAX interacts with the user and learns from the user. The more you play with MAX, the more MAX learns.
Check out this video which highlights a number of the really cool things MAX can do…
How cool is MAX?!
MAX can also be programmed and used through the Meccano APP which is available in the Google Play Store and for iOS.
The Meccano App is free to download and you can program MAX’s movement and sounds with it.

To find out if your device is compatible with the Meccano App, check out their information page HERE.
So here are my tips to maximize the fun and learning that can come out of MAX…
*If your builder is less than 16 years old, I recommend helping them build MAX. It can be daunting and hard for younger kids.
*Make sure your battery is charging before you do anything else so once you have MAX built you can get interact with your smartbot.
*Keep him on lower surfaces. I am not sure I would like MAX walking off anything. Not that we experienced it, but I can’t see MAX being able to take falls.
*Set aside a good chunk of time for building max. This is not a small or quick project. Speed will depend on the builder’s ability but will take you anywhere from 1 to 3 hours.
Here is what we think is great about MAX…
*Personality
*Expressive eyes
*Can do so much
*Love all the modes, such as protect mode.
*Can teach MAX and have him learn new things.
I think that MAX is amazing and is a product that many young kids that have an interest in building, engineering, or robots will be excited about. I love that there is an educational factor and fun factor to MAX. MAX makes learning fun.

MAX is available at Walmart, Target, Toys R US, Amazon, and Spinmaster.
