I have reviewed I think every single one of Jaimie Engle’s books and I totally adore her style of writing. I have come to expect a high quality story in every single Jaimie Engle book and her latest book has not let me down.
Metal Mouth – Lightning Can Strike Twice is a paranormal thriller for middle schoolers and adults.
YA Paranormal Romance/Magical Realism, Ages: 12+ – The Fault in Our Stars meets Ready Player One
Mahlorie hates her braces. And who cares what she looks like anyway? Her parents sure do. Dad, a travelling magician, and Mom, a famous erotica author, constantly harp on the importance of appearance. But when Mal has a near-death experience and can suddenly hear a boy’s voice in her head, life takes a turn for the weird. He can hear her too. How did her braces become transmitters? And who is this boy she just might be falling in love with?
I have read a ton of reviews for Metal Mouth and they are coming raving for not only the story in Metal Mouth, but for the writing style of Jaimie Engle.
I had my tween/middle schooler read Metal Mouth and it was a page turner for her. I would wonder where she was only to find her in her room, reading Metal Mouth. I know a book is a great book when my tween is sneaking away to read the book!
The story line in Metal Mouth will keep you on your toes. Just when you think you know what is happening, nope, Jaimie Engle takes the story another way.
The characters in Metal Mouth are relate-able and intriguing. You are left caring for all the characters and wanting to know what is going to happen next to them.
The story line covers numerous lessons such as friendship and insecurities . There are struggles for the main character with respect to school, friends, parents, love, and more. All these make the characters and story line easy to relate to for the reader.
Metal Mouth is 202 pages in total and rated for ages 12 and older. I agree that the books audience is 12 and older and that not only will the middle school reader love the book, but so will adults. It is a page turner that will have you wanting to know what happens next as they wonder through a story that is adorable, intriguing, cute, funny, and more.
I highly recommend Metal Mouth and that you check it and Jaimie Engle’s other books out. I know that you will not be disappointed.
