PNE PARTNERS WITH VANCITY TO SHOWCASE
PLANS FOR ECO-FRIENDLY FAIRFor Immediate Release
Vancouver, BC – The Pacific National Exhibition is showcasing its commitment to creating a more eco-friendly and sustainable Fair through a unique partnership with Vancity. As a valuable community partner, Vancity has committed to contribute to the PNE’s sustainability efforts by providing technical assistance, a grant for an environmental audit and connections to key environmental partners.
“It is a great pleasure to have a partner such as Vancity to help the PNE’s sustainability initiatives,” says Mike McDaniel, president and CEO of the PNE. “In addition to the grant and resources, Vancity’s guidance and advice have been invaluable to the PNE and will help make 2013 the most environmentally-friendly Fair to date.”
During the 15-day Fair, Vancity will be a key sponsor of Eco Alley, the best place to have “good green fun” at The Fair at the PNE. Eco Alley is an interactive and informative area where fairgoers can learn about current PNE green initiatives, share ideas about further reducing the environmental impact of the PNE and find out new ways to be greener in their day-to-day lives.
Plus, Vancity will ‘Cowpower’ all the electricity consumed at The Fair on Vancity Member Day, Thursday, August 29. ‘Cowpower’ is a community partner that processes cow manure to make electricity and a high-nutrient natural soil amendment.
Vancity will also be the presenting partner for the PNE’s bike valet service at The Fair. Located inside the PNE’s main gates, this secure bicycle storage area will be free to all PNE guests.
