My family recently got a wonderful opportunity to sit down and play with PolyPuzzles. What are PolyPuzzles? In my opinion they are hands on, puzzles that help trigger creativity, imagination and geometric exploration all rolled up into a fun 3 dimensional puzzle.
There really is no age limit to PolyPuzzles. Although they are recommended to ages 7 and up, they are easily enjoyed by younger ages as long as a parent is willing to assist. I personally love doing the puzzles with my little one who is turning 5 in a few days. She loved punching out the pieces and folding them to get them ready when needed. She was excited with each piece that went together and as the object we were building started to form in 3 dimensional precision before her eyes.
If I was to describe my 9 year old, I would have to say that she is not a puzzle person. My 9 year old needed assistance with Polypuzzling. Although she did require help, she was intrigued by the puzzles and enjoyed seeing them erupt into their 3 dimensional shape.
I had one of the mom’s that helps me test out products try a few PolyPuzzles with her daughter who is 4 and son who is 7. I was told that they enjoyed doing the puzzles together. They sat and played with them for an hour in the first sitting and have returned to do them again since.
The one thing that she noted was with the little ones putting them together and bending them, she questioned if they could be taken apart and done again. My experience was that I could get the pieces apart and put them together again, but the people making the puzzles in my family were either a 9 year old or an adult so I would maybe attribute the condition of the pieces to the age of those doing the puzzles.
There are quite a number of PolyPuzzles and they fall into 4 categories. Here are a sample of some of the puzzles from each category. To see all the PolyPuzzles available make sure to check out their official website.

Some of our kits are designed for the free-form artists, while our theme kits are designed with a specific sculpture in mind. Our owl and snowflake are two excellent examples, and, because we use only the finest paper for our puzzle pieces, all PolyPuzzle creations are extremely sturdy.
In a tribute to serious geometers, we have created a range of sets we call GeoKits.. Unlike some of our packaged products, GeoKits are simple, flat-packed sheets of PolyPuzzle pieces. Each kit makes a different set of geometric forms, or you can use the pieces to make your own creative projects. Wiggle eyes are not included in the GeoKits — just the puzzle pieces and an instruction sheet with pictures of the geometric models.
PolyPuzzle GeoKits can be assembled with the tabs facing outward (see image, below – left) or with the tabs folded inward (image, right). The parts of the basic GeoKits have a score line along the tabs. It is completely your choice in how you make your models. However, geometry enthusiasts often prefer to make solid models with smooth edges.
Hanging Lamps, ornaments and mobiles, all made with PolyPuzzle.
To help you out, the PolyPuzzle website has an Instruction Section for Novice, Apprentice and Wizard. No matter what your skill level, there is a PolyPuzzle for you and instructions addressing the level that you are at.
I love companies that give back and PolyPuzzle is a member of 1% for Humanity. What does this mean? It means that PolyPuzzle donates 1% of its annual revenue (sales) to organizations working to promote literacy and to fight poverty.
As far as which PolyPuzzle was my favorite, I really loved the snowflake.
