5 Tips to Selecting the Best Carry on Luggage for your Toddler

5 Tips to Selecting the Best Carry on Luggage for your Toddler

September 28, 2017 By MomMomOnTheGo

Traveling with a kid is a mixture of fun, excitement, and challenge. While you get to go places with your little tot, you may also have to face the tricky part of dealing with the things they carry with them—toys, food, and clothes they need throughout the trip.

Even when toddlers still need guidance and help from their parents, it is important that at a very young age, we teach them how to be responsible for looking after their own belongings.

Train your kids to travel smart and light and give them their own carry-on luggage for your next trip.

Here are some tips when you are selecting the best carry-on luggage for your trip with your kid.

Choose the right size
The usual size allowed for overhead storage on planes is 22 inches (22” x 14” x 9”). Make sure your kid’s luggage is not more than the size limit or else he might throw a tantrum all throughout the ride upon knowing it needs to get checked in.

Design matters
Your kids’ luggage is also their travel buddy. They would love to carry their bags with designs of their favorite cartoon characters or superheroes. It also helps if the luggage has their favorite color in it to keep them inspired and in a happy mood.

Easy to use

You can choose a rolling backpack for easier transport when they quit putting it on their backs. Soft side luggage is easier to use than hard side ones. While on a plane, soft side luggage gives an easier access to your kid’s things compared to the hard side. However, if you are bringing along some fragile things for your kids, then you can consider the hard side luggage for your convenience.

Nice compartments

Kids would love packing their own things. It would be better if the luggage has nice compartments and pockets so they will know what to put where. This also practices how to pack light and properly. They can be trained to put their toys in a more accessible part than bury it underneath to save time and effort.

Dual purpose
Ride on luggage for kids is the key for an easier airport stroll. It lessens the hassle of dragging them to follow you as they have their mini transport vehicles to keep them entertained. Kids love riding in this kind of luggage and it can also fit perfectly under the seat. A ride on luggage also has a strap which kids love playing with. Moreover, the luggage is often kept in far corners of the house when they are not in use. It can serve as a storage box for his toys when not in use.
