Story Stew: A Fairy Tale Revue

May 15, 2016 By MomMomOnTheGo

MomMomOnTheGo and crew headed out to Granville Island last night to see Story Stew: A Fairy Tale Revue which is part of the Arts Umbrella series.

STORY STEW: A FAIRY TALE REVUE
Written by Stacey Lane
Performed by the Junior Theatre Troupe
Directed by Susanne Moniz de Sá

You know the old woman who lived in a shoe and had so many children she didn’t know what to do. But did you know that her children are Jack, Jill, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, Hansel, Gretel and that lamb-loving Mary? Familiar fables take on new twists in this energetic romp through the enchanted forest.

Show times: May 14 @7pm, May 19 @7pm, May 22 @ 2pm
Tickets: $15

My Little One who is 9 loved Story Stew. The play lasts a total of 40 minutes so it goes by quite quickly.

The venue is great and the show has general admission seating. The theater was not sold out, but even if it fills up, there is not a bad seat in the house.

The show is a mixture of fairy tales, twisted a bit to be told into one entire play. It was very funny and lovely how they intertwined the various fairy tales.

One person in my party said it reminded them of a kids’ version of Once Upon A Time. I can see the relation for sure as it takes tales and retells them in one story. It is quite entertaining.

There were adults and young kids in the audience. This play was truly enjoyed by all ages. The little ones were engaged and laughing throughout the play.

We were lucky enough to go on opening night of the Story Stew and we got to see one of the actors get rewarded a scholarship. The actress who played the wolf was rewarded the scholarship and after seeing her performance in the play, it was apparent that she was very the right choice. Her performance was spectacular and really stood out among the other actors.

We had a really great time and my Little One said that she would go see Story Stew again. It was a great job done and very entertaining.

Disclosure: MomMomOnTheGo was provided tickets for the purpose of conducting a review of this show. MomMomOnTheGo only supports companies, products, and services that she loves.
