Vancouver Aquarium – The Big Reveal

July 28, 2014 By MomMomOnTheGo

The Vancouver Aquarium has completed their biggest expansion ever and MomMomOnTheGo went to check it out.

I have always loved the Vancouver Aquarium. My family loves to head there for the day. We love everything about the Aquarium and with the newest expansion, the Aquarium is bigger and better. The expansion has made the entrance way to the Vancouver Aquarium so welcoming, attractive, and organized. It is very impressive when you first walk in.

Vancouver Aquarium

The new Vancouver Aquarium has a bigger gift shop, new cafes, new interactive areas, concerts, educational programming, new bat cave exhibit and more.

When I first walked into the new Vancouver Aquarium I felt wowed by how it now looks. The division of the areas to direct you to the exhibits is wonderful and the wrap around screens are very attractive.

Vancouver Aquarium

My Little One loves the new interactive displays. They were engaging for her. See that she recently did a Vancouver Aquarium AquaCamp, she was especially excited to show us around the new and improved Aquarium, and demonstrate everything that she learned at camp.

Here is more about the expansion as released by the Vancouver Aquarium.

Our Underwater World

We’re excited to share the most significant expansion of our history. Your very first step into our amazing new space will lead you to new interactive areas, conservation stories, educational programming, animal exhibits and other immersive experiences.

Outdoor Courtyard

Your aquatic experience begins as you stroll through our welcoming outdoor courtyard overlooking Stanley Park. Through the summer, the courtyard comes alive with educational programming, children’s entertainment, concerts, and special events.

Teck Connections & Engagement Galleries

Upon entry, a giant globe of our world will greet you as wrap-around screens take you on a journey of our oceans and the aquatic life within them.

Clownfish Cove

A long-time favourite, the Clownfish Cove Children’s Area connects young minds to the wonder of our oceans through a “learn by play” approach. Kids will love our new Animal Rescue Centre, seaside dock with “underwater” tunnels to explore, a touch table and a reading nook.

Enter the Revitalized Tropics

In the warmth of our tropical gallery, you’ll find a new pig-nosed turtle, stunning rainbowfishes, a surface-floating four-eyed fish and mudskippers. There is also a new bat cave exhibit in the Graham Amazon Gallery.

Leading with Green

From rainwater toilets to an energy-efficient heating and cooling system, our revitalization has led with LEED Silver sustainability standards.

Time to Fuel Up

Our new Ocean Wise indoor and outdoor cafés provide a delicious array of food and beverage delights making it an ideal spot to take in the beauty of Stanley Park.

First or Last Stop

You’ll enjoy the extra elbow room in our new gift shop as you to browse sustainable, educational and aquatic-themed keepsakes.

Your Visit Supports Our Conservation Efforts

Vancouver Aquarium is a non-profit society dedicated to the conservation of aquatic life. Your visit directly supports our conservation, research and education programs, which help to protect our oceans and the aquatic life within them.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Right now until August 18th, 2014, please also take the time to vote for the Vancouver Aquarium as one of USA Today’s 10 Best North American Aquariums.
