Word Whiz Electronic Flash Card Review & Giveaway

January 29, 2013 By MomMomOnTheGo

Learning Resources

I love educational toys and I was really excited to try out the Learning Resources Word Whiz Electronic Flash Card with my 5 year old.

I located a couple of age rankings for the Word Whiz Electronic Flash Card. The first age ranking is located on the packaging and it is for ages 5 to 8 years old or grades Kindergarten to three. The Learning Resources website has the Word Whiz age ranking as 5 to 10 years old. I agree more with the packaging age ranking unless you have an older child that is having a tough time with spelling. It is not that the Word Whiz is not challenging for our 10 year old. I just find that our 10 year old is quicker to put the Word Whiz down and less likely to return to use it which is opposite to our 5 year old.

Word Whiz

Build as many 3-, 4- and 5-letter words as you can in 60 seconds!
Encourages children to practice word building as they combine beginning letters and blends with word families
Challenges children with three skill levels
Features handheld size, simple operation, immediate feedback and volume control
Measures 5″L x 4″H
Requires 3 AA batteries, not included

The Word Whiz is a great size and because of that it makes it very convenient to bring with you when you go out. My 5 year old loves the Word Whiz and she uses it at home and in the car. She loves building words and feeling so proud of herself with each word that she correctly builds.

The Word Whiz has three levels that increase in difficulty. It allows the user to build 3, 4 and 5 letter words. The goal is to see how many words you can build in 60 seconds.

The Word Whiz uses 3 AA batteries and I find that the batteries last long in the unit. We have used our unit a lot and we have not had to replace the batteries as of yet. I also love that you can press and hold the power button to enter into Mute mode. Moms sure know that toys should always come with volume controls. 🙂

I truly love educational toys and the Word Whiz Electronic Flash Card is another educational toy from Learning Resources that I would recommend.
